    Poetry.com is a SCAM

I submitted a poem once, because I think submitting one allowed me to enter some other contest online. This, in itself, was a tip-off. I've been steadily ignoring their emails since. I think I allowed them to publish the poem in one of their anthologies, but I haven't shelled out any money...

Any Weird Al fans out there?

This thread, too: http://forum.muppetcentral.com/showthread.php?t=13457 Same concert as Convincing John, actually... :)

Kermit and Steve Whitmire in London

Wow! What a great day you had! I'm green with envy... :)

    Jim Henson on TV Funhouse.

Well, I thought the skit was very funny--not because of any personal stuff about Walt Disney, but more because of the satire of lackluster direct-to-dvd animated sequels. To me, the heart of the humor in this skit was a distaste for the corporate exploitation of the Disney animated classics.

    Jim Henson on TV Funhouse.

It was absolutely hilarious. What I really loved were the censored pictures from Disney films on the back wall--all authentic!

What did you do this Easter?

That Wonka egg hunt sounds like a lot of fun. We had an egg hunt too, after church and brunch. We typically each hide about 20 eggs for each other, but we were so busy that we cut it short and did only ten. I don't think my brain was functioning right yesterday, (to be fair, it's been a busy...

    Muppet Film and TV References

The SNL thing last night was very funny. What Mickey said, when they found Jim and Kermit tied up, was "He wouldn't sell! He wouldn't sell!" :)

How's the weather where you are?

Well, we had a series of tornadoes here in Iowa City last night. Our neighborhood was, thankfully, spared, but other parts of town suffered some damage. So, interesting weather...

    Indiana Jones

I actually REALLY love Last Crusade. I was just the right age when it came out, I think. That film made me want to BE Indiana Jones. I really love the combination of action and humor, especially the dynamic between Ford and Connery. What a great movie!

I'm so sorry to hear this, Convincing John, and I'll be thinking of you and your family.

Yes, a good episode, and it included a great word: "fisticuffs!"

    Mirrormask DVD--Feb. 14

We finally got a chance to watch this movie last night, and I liked it. It was really unusual. I'm a big fan of Gaiman/McKean, and (naturally) a big fan of the Jim Henson company, so I was sort of predisposed to like it. I'll have to watch it again before I really know what I think, because...

Any Weird Al fans out there?

Go see him! He's just terrific in concert. I've been lucky enough to see him a number of times--it gets even more fun if you can manage to get in line early enough for tickets close to the stage. It just takes on a whole different dimension when you're that close, because he does so much to...

Any Weird Al fans out there?

I don't know, probably a lot of independent people. I do know that a lot of stuff gets released online through P2P services as attributed to "Weird Al," but isn't really by him. There's a question in the weirdal.com FAQ about this... http://www.weirdal.com/faq.htm

Any Weird Al fans out there?

Oh yeah, me too--I just thought I'd answer your question, since you said you weren't sure which of those songs were actually Weird Al. Weird Al is a really nice guy--we met him after his show in Iowa City a couple of years ago. He stayed around to sign autographs for anyone who stuck around...

Fat, The Saga Begins, and I Love Rocky Road--all Weird Al. The other two, not so much... :)
