HAPPY HEALTHY MONSTERS is a let-down.
I bought it for my daughter, and she seemed moderately interested.
This DVD IS geared for the modern-day Sesame viewer, with Zoe, Elmo, and Grover, but it's TOO much Grover and not enough Zoe and Elmo.
Kinda boring - They focused mainly on eating...
Sesame Street is not as good because RESEARCH has shown that they needed to re-think their ways of reaching out to TODAY's children.
The attention spans and minds of kids in the year 2005 is different from those in 1969.
SESAME had to adapt with the times.
If I had to guess...
Yeah, I knew about the hidden filament cord that moves Big's "immobile" wing, but sometimes Matt Vogel has got BOTH hands doing something physical while his beak's moving at full speed.
Those round-headed Muppets, i.e. the more bland-looking, interchangeable ones, were called "Anything Muppets." The usual puppeteers, Frank Oz, Carroll Spinney, Jerry Nelson, Fran Brill, Jim Henson, performed them.
The most famous "Anything Muppet" was Fat Blue, the mustachioed blue...
But Big Bird is full on-camera dancing from left to right. You can see the full costume from head to toe.
So, unless they put a hole in the back of Big Bird's costume, then that's the only viable solution.
I believe that girl could be Jenny, who was a grown-up featured in Sesame Street's pilot episode (and possibly other season one episodes) who showed the new girl Sally how to do the "over, under, and around" trick with her knitting yarn.
Today on Journey to Ernie, I saw Matt Vogel's Big Bird move with his beak and BOTH arms in motion.
Now, unless he has three hands, how does he make Big Bird's mouth move with both wings flapping at the same time? For the record, Big Bird was full on camera doing a dance to the tune of "One...
Kevin Clash's Elmo sounded more scratchy in its earlier incarnations from the mid-eighties to early nineties.
Plus, his speaking skills weren't really refined yet. His English wasn't as developed: "Elmo love Linda!" as opposed to now: "Elmo loves Linda!"
Check the episode where Elmo helps...
It is true - at curtain call you could clearly see:
Steve Whitmire playing Kermit, Bill Baretta playing Animal (with a keyboard attached to him), a brief millisecond of glasses-wearing Eric Jacobsen as Fozzie (you saw his right hand man on camera better) - but you couldn't see Dave Goelz play...
I myself just bought this game for my 3 year old daughter.
Although I'm trying to explain the rules for her, all she seems interested in are the plastic figures of Big Bird, Zoe, Cookie, and Elmo.
Between the Lions has good intentions, but it just doesn't have the same wit and class as The Electric Company.
I'm sorry if you were too young to grow up with this masterpiece.
Here's an interesting article on the webpage of June Angela, who played Julie from the Short Circus about the behind-the-scenes of The Electric Company:

This is really no big deal, but MikeBennedict, why are you always messing with my threads?
I think there's enough connection especially between classic Sesame and TEC, since they often crossed-over on each other's shows and they covered the same time period....Oscar and Big Bird on The...
If you're talking about the website with the Digital Archive of THE ELECTRIC COMPANY, it's no longer there....Sesame Workshop forced them to take it down with a cease and desist letter.
I would figure that with so many classic SESAME fans, there'd have to be ELECTRIC COMPANY fans that go hand in hand?
Am I right?
And is it just me, or does your memory sometimes blur which cartoons or skits were on SESAME or TEC?
Also, if you catch MIDNIGHT RUN, with De Niro and Charles Grodin, she's in the first 10 minutes. She plays Charles Grodin's wife.
And she has a brief role in WHAT ABOUT BOB, Frank Oz's vehicle.
