How to get to Sesame Street and other information!

Vic: Good question! The answers: 1) Northern Calloway, had a bunch of episodes where he was arrested for weird behavior (one was in Nashville, where he was making an appearance in the early 1980's) and they briefly dismissed him from the show. He came back off and on the '80's before...

    VCR Alert: Flip Wilson, 6/4/05

Thanks, Boober Gorg! That was a treat to see. That was 1970 classic psychedelic Sesame Street. And that was the FIRST APPEARNACE OF GREEN OSCAR....with blue eyebrows, to boot. 1970 Sesame Street.

Favorite Sesame human of all time

I think Maria is the quintessential Sesame Street human cast member. Usually, she's the "go to" person when there's no one else around, and the one they use the most in street stories nowadays. A most valuable player that bridges the gap between old and new Sesame.

    VCR Alert: Flip Wilson, 6/4/05

Ah. I wonder if this is the episode that marked the FIRST time that Oscar appeared green and not orange... Carroll Spinney talks about that in his book.

Why is Steve Whitmire the voice of Kermit?

Interesting to note: Jim Henson died in 1990, and the first appearance of Steve Whitmire's Kermit was Muppet Christmas Carol in 1992 and the first appearance of Steve Whitmire's Ernie was Sesame Street New Year's Eve in 1993. Must have been a tough 2 years to get a replacement.

    Bert crying

Bert moans a lot at the end of skits, mainly because Ernie screws him over. But he cries also in this other skit: 1969 - He bets Ernie that Ernie can't clean up the apartment in 10 seconds before lunch. If he can't, then he gets to eat Ernie's cookie and ice cream dessert. Of course...

Grover and his Old Buddy Bert

And on the same note, I've only seen ERNIE and KERMIT THE FROG in the same room saying lines (but not to each other): Do the Rubber Duck song.

Grover and his Old Buddy Bert

The only time....the ONLY time I've ever heard Bert mention Grover (and Cookie Monster) by name was in 1973 in the skit where Ernie's trying to go to sleep but is afraid to because of monsters and Bert tries to comfort him by saying that Ernie already knows "Herry, Grover, and Cookie" and...

Count it Higher and Sing Yourself Sillier DVDs

Count It Higher is a re-issue of an earlier entry from SESAME STREET HOME VIDEO back in 1986. It has a lot of classic counting clips.

    That was 1970.

The first thing you ever remember seeing on Sesame

Brown Grover was named "Fuzzy Face" - a nickname or moniker that Kermit gave him in the 1969 sketch about over, in, next to, and beneath. You can refer to, I believe, the 4th 1969 show from UNPAVED. And that time, he was Frank Oz. BTW, how did you know that Jim Henson's role in UP AND DOWN...

Follow That Bird: A look back

For the record, FTB was filmed in 1984, but released the following summer. Snuffy didn't appear until 1985. So this is pre-visible Snuffy.

The first thing you ever remember seeing on Sesame

Man, you guys are young! So, none of you guys were alive when SESAME was REALLY good during the 1970's? You don't remember seeing Mr. Hooper or Sherlock Hemlock or Roosevelt Franklin being on every day? I remember all of the old SESAME STREET specials, like Gene Shalit hosting "SESAME...

Yeah, I really hope that's an April Fool's joke, as there are WAY too many Telly/Baby Bear episodes in there.
