Does anyone remember the SESAME STREET 10TH ANNIVERSARY album? (It was silver with two LP's)
Inside, they had like 12 glossy B/W photos of the cast, and in one of them, she was included in a shot.
I'm guessing the date on that was 1979.
David was also featured in a skit from 1970 with Bert about making a happy and sad face.
It was the same brick wall, same yellow backdrop, and I'm pretty sure David was wearing the same orange long-sleeve shirt.
Both segments were probably taped on the same day, and Frank Oz probably...
Cookie Monster, in his 1970 form with portruding lower lip and blue-green fur, is behind the typical brick wall against a yellow backdrop, and asks David, a black kid around 8 or 9, to read the sign "STREET" and asks him what it is.
David correctly reads the word and defines "street" as...
If anyone wants a description of the UNPAVED episode that contains the "soup" sketch, it's on the one from 1985 where the Amazing Mumford turns Maria into a duck and vice-versa.
(I remember, because I was taping only the sketches since the street scenes were so lame.)
For me, it's the other way around.
I prefer the Muppets as:
1. Sesame
2. Muppet Show
3. Fraggle Rock
If I had a choice of only collecting one line of Muppet toys, it'd be Sesame, hands down.
Man, can you imagine when all of the Waves of the SESAME STREET line are finally out?
Witih all of the MUPPET SHOW and SESAME STREET Muppets, you can re-create the grand finale of THE MUPPET MOVIE!
TWO QUESTIONS:
1) Does anyone have a release date for Wave 1?
2) Are the 123 Brownstone and Big Bird's house going to be released as playsets, or are they for this particular display only?
Classic letter sketches on "Alphabet Jungle Game"
- Marvelous Martha - "m - m - m - m......Martha!"
- V in outer space - you know, the scary cartoon from the '70's where you see a V flying around in space and a female voice saying: "V.........V.........V......" and it lands on the moon at...
Actually, Falling Down Baker #10 is on "Elmo's World The Street that We Live On"
And actually, Capital I and Lower-case n are not on "Alphabet Jungle Game" - My daughter has seen this DVD three times a day for the past week, and it's definitely not on there.
Another blooper:
In the 1972 season premiere, when they have the SESAME STREET cast doing the alphabet with their first names, you can see either Frank Oz or Cookie's right hand man's head as they prep Cookie Monster to say: "C...is for, COOKIE!!!!"
My favorites are the ones where ERNIE AND BERT ALMOST DROWN...
You know, the ones where Ernie floods the apartment, whether by breaking the kitchen faucet or forgetting to turn off the bathtub, and you see Bert fending for his life.
Horrifying.
It's probably all an inside joke:
Jim Henson's character sings about "Jane", his wife
Fran Brill's character sings about "Jim", probably referring to Jim Henson
and
Frank Oz's character sings about "Joan", probably referring to Sesame Street creator Joan Ganz Cooney
