I've seen his stuff on ebay for quite awhile and I think he is very legit based on how long he has been around and his user rating (547 I think). He's only had one negative.
They are cool puppets and dirt cheap too!
Maybe I'll bid against you heh heh.
Hi all!
I was just looking up some stuff over at Macromedia (makers of Flash, Cold Fusion and basically every single product that makes the web cool and animated!) and I noticed that their Showcase Site of the Day was Noggin's Play With Me Sesame Website. The following is from the Macromedia...
Ooops!
I've also forgotten to mention THE ONLY place on the web that's updated semi-regularly with puppet video content (it's all free) - Gordon Smuder's tres cool site The Puppet Forge.
Be sure to check out "Sam" which is one of the best puppet short films I have seen in awhile. It's by a...
Hey Sal, I'm a big fan of web cartoons (well, really more web comics than cartoons - but they're close enough). There are actually a few people out there making a little money.
A new comics site that started up awhile ago was Modern Tales . They carry the work of several different artists...
Yeah, I think that the problem is that the audience is too small at this point.
We're developing an all-puppet feature film (it will actually be the first all-puppet feature ever made in Canada and there have only been a handful done around the world) and it's going to cost about $175,000...
OK, here's an idea - would anyone pay for an online Muppet series? How about a good, Muppet quality online series done by other puppeteers?
I've been reading Scott McCloud's Reinventing Comics, which talks alot about the idea of freeing artists by putting their comics online and I got...
Re: Yeah, it does help, alot
No problem, btw - I'm slowly (very slowly) getting a series of short puppet building "how-tos" from our old site up on our new site. Only one is up so far, but there should be one more by the end of the week and I'll adding more as time allows.
Go to OMCS and...
Asking how much it costs to build a puppet is kind of like asking how much it costs to buy a new car - it really depends on what you need, what you are looking for and what you've got to spend.
When we build custom professional puppets the cost is anywhere from $600 to thousands, depending on...
Hats off to the producers, writers and production people from all sides working on this! The deeply entrenched political problems - though they seem to many outsiders to have little basis in reason or reality - are very real and almost impossible to overcome (as recent world events have shown...
Re: Palette Materials
I'm a big fan of craft foam, back in the day (before we knew what we were doing) we made all our puppets from stitched together pieces of craft foam (Ick! - Don't try it at home!!!) but now we discovered foam, contact cement and hot glue and we have a small army of much...
Not to knock your opinion Didymus, `cause I've had the "Muppet stitch discussion" with a (former) Henson person as well, but I don't think Rick would steer us wrong on this, what with him actually being a Muppeteer and all.
Maybe this is like the "Caramilk secret" - we'll just never really...
I am pretty sure that the Oscar is from Applause too (I saw one auctioning on Ebay today by itself) and I guess it's possible that Cookie is as well.
Thanks for the info radionate!
Hi all! We've got some Sesame Street PVCs on Ebay and I was wondering if anyone knew much about them. We actually got a whole whack of them when we traded a bunch of them for a Pets.com sock puppet so I'm trying to get rid of them now.
I believe they were manufactured by Applause, by I don't...
I missed out on the Weasel by a day - $#&@& - `cause I was in Tobermory miles from any internet connection. Ah well, I am sure Terry will have another one going up soon.
Check out Mike Brose's site - Figure Making Can Be Fun. He has some good diagrams for making Eye Mechs for Vent dummies that you might be able to apply to your puppet. I think they are on the site under "Fun Stuff."
Oh, and if you want to learn alot about mechs for puppets, the book version...
For a long time, I believed that there was no "Henson Stitch" and figure it was just a myth, like the Loch Ness Monster or Compassionate Republicans*, designed to throw the casual puppet maker off the real "secret" Antron fleece.
But alas Virginia, there is a Henson stitch. Took us years to...
