    Big Bird's Voice?

To be honest, Matt's voice kinda bugs me too - but overall I think he does a fabulous job as Big Bird. Anyone who takes issue with minor aspects of Matt's performance should check Carrol's early work - remember he's had 30+ years to refine and perfect Big Bird. Oh, and Trekkie I actually...

Miss Piggy on Hollywood Squares May 12-16

Yeah, thanks for bringing that up Jamie - I just caught the end of Hollywood Squares and noticed that she looked different. I think it's mostly the hair and - if it's a new puppet - maybe the colouring of the flock on the head is different (there seems to be slight changes in Muppet colours...

What Happened to The Muppet Puppets etc?

I hate to take issue with this Wiggy, but that's not entirely correct. Puppets do break down over time. The foam inside the puppets will break down eventually and turn to dust. How fast this happens depends on the type of foam and the storage conditions (puppets can last anywhere from 5 - 15...

    Old Topic > Ostrich feathers

Most dressmaking and fabric shops will sell feather boas. Try looking there. Failing that, I am sure you could find a US or European supplier who would ship to Sweden.

EM.TV to Sell Muppets to Jim Henson's Children for $89 Million

I haven't been online much lately, so the first I heard about this was in the Financial Post (which carried the Reuters wire story). I know the Henson kids took heat for the decision to sell 3 years ago, but I don't think that was caused by greed - I think they genuinely wanted the Muppets to be...

Big Bird Book Signing ... I Can't Wait!

Does anyone know is Carrol is doing any dates in Canada? I know Chapters up here *just* took delivery of the book and I used a credit I had with them to pick up my copy yesterday - it's great! Did anyone else read it yet?

    Muppets on Canadian TV?

I believe that CTS is national, but I don't think it's carried on all the cable/satellite networks in the country.

    Blockheads

Ethafoam is light but kind of rigid for carving heads, isn't it? (maybe we are not talking about the same stuff). Generally though, if you want a flexible "Muppet" puppet you should use some sort of polyfoam block.

    foam blocks

Try looking in your local Yellow Pages for either a foam supplier or manufacturer or a dressmaking shop or a camping supply place (a lot of them sell blocks and sheets of foam for mattresses and pillows). Foam that is more than 2 inches thick is sold by either weight or cubic volume and is...

    Is the Puppet Renaissance over?

These things usually come in waves, they'll be more puppetry back around soon. I am not sure if it is just by chance or because of the entertainment industry's "Herd Mentality" but I am sure we will see another surge in a few years or so. The early eighties rode in on the heels of the Muppet...

    New movies coming out...

They've held off doing ID2 for so long for the same reasons they claimed that MIBII wouldn't happen for so long - there are so many big-name Hollywood people in it that the "backend" of the deal (profits shared between the director, producers, stars, etc.) means that even if the film did $200...

    armslenght puppets

Try Mercury Plastics (I think they used to be Eye Design Inc.) - they should be in the suppliers listing at The Puppetry Homepage. You'll have to buy them in bulk though - it's only possible to buy them wholesale unless you can find a craft store that sells them. I hope this helps!

    I need some website help

Going back to the original question, one good webhosting company that is free is Doteasy.com (you have to buy a domain name, but otherwise it is free). For totally free there is always Geocities (www.geocities.com) but some people have issues with them.

    Jim Henson: Young Puppeteer

Has anybody read "Jim Henson: Young Puppeteer" by Leslie Grouse? I had heard about it years ago when it came out but finally picked up a copy last week at the library. It's intended for young readers (part of the "Childhood of Famous Americans" book series), but it's a good book filled with lots...

Has Frank washed his hands of his muppet show puppets

What is the reduced taping schedule? How many episodes a year do they do now....

    This looks interesting!!!

Yup, I am pretty sure it is a hair dryer too....they are commonly used to speed the drying of the contact cement or "Barge" glue used to glue foam together. Could also be a heat gun.....but my money is on a hair dryer.

    Cheeks

Kinda hard to explain in words.....but here goes: usually to make a cheek ona puppet head made from foam you will cut out two pieces of sheet foam in the aproximate shape of the cheeks. Next, glue the "cheeks" down to the puppet head in the right place. Finally, you need to glue the side of the...

So, any news with Disney and JHC?

Disney is probably dickering over price. Michael Eisner likes his acquistions on the cheap, no matter how beloved they are.

    My own puppet show photos

I was there in `97 doing a show called "A Little More Magic". I don't remember the name of the theatre now (I think it was used for TV tapings sometimes though) but we stayed downtown near the Canadian Embassy. Actually, I think our hotel was actually attached to it. That's about I recall, that...

    My own puppet show photos

Hey Figaredo, That show is great! I have worked in Chile before (puppeteering) and I never saw anything like that on TV - mucho congratulations! You should considering submitting a video to Jamie over at The Puppet Forge (if the TV station will allow it for promotional purposes). I know Jamie...
