Hey everyone,
If you're in or near Toronto you may want to consider checking out the Toronto premiere of filmmaker Jim Goodall's "Mr. Ramsbottom". It's a great little puppet film that I had the privledge of seeing earlier this year. It's screening at 10pm
on Sunday Oct. 26 at the Royal...

I also should say that while it's flattering to be called "the #1 puppet answer guy around here" I think it's a bit of an overstatement! There are a number of folks who post here who are much more knowledgable than I am including rickly, butchcat and toastcrumbs among others. I think I just tend...
Interesting how one little idea grows....to answer the questions mkelley posed:
1) We need to finalize a theme in the next couple of days (my suggestion is friendship, but let's hear others if people want something else)
I think Friendship is good too...any dessenting voices? The...
I try to post any jobs I hear about here in the forum....you should browse through the recent threads. Depending on where you live there may be a recent opportunity here for you. It's also a good idea to join Puppetry associations or guilds in your area. You can meet and network with other...
Sorry not responding about this sooner everyone, I was out of town for most of the last week and my net access was kind of limited.
Foz - I was thinking we would distribute it for free over the `net, since it is sort of an experimental thing after all. If it starts using huge amounts of...
I took several pictures of this the other day - I didn't know it existed until I looked up and saw it in Times Square. I'll download the photos from my camera and send them to you later this afternoon, hopefully they will be helpful.
This isn't a hoax! Just got back home from New York and found this news waiting for me, which is pretty darn cool...hats off to Alias for doing this:
Alias Systems: Maya Personal Learning Edition 5 Now Available for Free Download
TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 15, 2003--Alias Systems, a...
PUPTCRIT is a mailing list for the discussion of puppetry and related art forms. The discussions are generally pretty theoretical in nature, but puppet happenings and events also get announced and discussed as well. To subscribe to PUPTCRIT, send a message to...
Hey everyone,
I just heard about this through Scott McCloud's Blog and it's pretty spiffy - Public Mind is a free service that groups people together who all want the same thing, so they can leverage the `net, demonstrate demand for whatever they want (like bringing back a discontinued...
Bill Remington, that was the guy! Bill Remington was in the closed circuit line I think (sorry, I was drawing a blank for a minute there). I didn't actually speak with him, but I recognized his face and he was wearing a "Team Twooey" ball cap from Little Shop.
Sorry! I was trying to figure out who was with TP...the only person I'd recognize in person is Danny (was he there? I didn't see him?) I got in late (about a minute before it started) and was sitting in the middle row, three or four rows from the back.
Only people I recognized in the crowd -...
It was word of mouth. I was at a meeting with some folks from Austrailia (in New York) about another puppetry project and they mentioned it offhand to me, asking if I had heard anything about it. I ~think~ they may have had some other meetings and/or know some people in town from Nick so it's...
Hey, here's an idea...what about a "collaborative puppetry video"? We could pick a theme or idea then any puppeteers on here who want to participate in it could tape a short (say 30 second) clip of their character(s) talking about the theme/topic. The clips could then be spliced together as...
I doubt there will be a DVD, but it's possible that a tape of the presentation will be added to the Museum's collection - it was mentioned that they have tapes of past events that Jim himself participated in on file. Some of the recently uncovered film was donated to the Museum tonight.
"Our...
Wow! Well I will be putting together a full editorial on this overnight, but it was great. They screened a lot of rare Muppet gems. It was a real treat. Jerry Nelson even mentioned Muppet Central (and Tough Pigs) when the audience cheered for MuppetFest.
Who else actually went?
I think they should hand out copies of "Fast Food Nation" at the enterance to every fast food outlet in North America. If you can eat fast food after reading that book you've earned the right to. That book has changed people's lives....ever since I've abandon fast food....except for Wendy's...
This is another article on Marty and Little Shop, from the NY Times. I've copied it below because it may not be online for non-subscribers for very long:
A Hot, Sweaty Job in a Plant, Eating People

The matinee ends, and Martin P. Robinson, wearing Darth...
The Sydney Morning Herald has an article about a preview of several scenes from Lion King....you can read it online at http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/10/14/1065917418194.html
