Thanks for clarifying that. Didn't Elmo bounce around between a few puppeteers as a sort of "anything monster" until sometime around `86 or `87?

    Follow That Bird Revisited

I don't think Kevin Clash worked on Follow That Bird, though I could be wrong. I think the first Muppet thing he worked on up here in Toronto was the Muppets' 25th Anniversary special. Also on "Follow That Bird" a lot of the Canadian Muppeteers were subbing on various Muppets.

    Gold Lining on Muppet Theatre

I don't know where you would find that exact pattern - since the show was made in the UK over 25 years ago I doubt it's commercially available and it was probably a custom job by a scenic painter anyway. You should be able to search the net and find out how to do a faux gold leaf finish. I think...

    Follow That Bird Revisited

I have no idea what you're talking about. Heh heh. :halo: I said "Ain't No Road Too Long" was one of my all-time favourite Sesame songs. You must be confused! ;) Say, did anybody know that Hoots is in this? Except he's not Hoots and I don't think Kevin Clash does him. He's just a...

I've always loved "Ain't No Road To Long". It's one of my favourite songs from Sesame.

    Real/Replica Muppets

Ahem. (Buck pulls out his soap box and sighs deeply) Actually, it is very illegal to have a replica Muppet made even just for personal use. Copyright laws are very clear on that. Are you likely to get in trouble for owning one or making one yourself? Probably not. But any puppet maker who...

    Cool Puppets From Minneapolis

Looks like there is a neat-looking show called "Mercurius Lumen" taking shape in Minneapolis. It features a cast over 50 (fifty!) puppets. Minnesota Public Radio has a written article at http://news.mpr.org/features/2004/01/23_robertsc_puppetepic/ and there is also a link to the audio story on...

    Puppet Greetings

Yeah Kevin is a great puppeteer. Looks like the usual crew of excellent LA-based puppeteers is behind this. Kevin also did Crow Police which I was sorry never really went anywhere and the live-action Mr. Potatohead which included some of the Puppet Greetings puppeteers and MadTV's Debra Wilson...

    Follow That Bird Revisited

I'm sick this weekend and mostly bed-ridden so to alleviate my boredom I decided to pop in to the DVD player my "Follow That Bird" DVD which I got as a Christmas present but never got around to watching. It's a pretty sparse DVD. The "special features" are a theatrical trailer and the ability...

    Looking for "Soft Foam" Source

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "soft foam" but chances are engineered foam in Toronto sells it. They ship to the US (and the Cdn $ means you get a 30% discount) but the minimum order they will accept can sometimes be high. Their contact info is: Engineered Foam Products 111-B...

Marty Robinson and "Little Shop of Horrors" arrive on Broadway

For anyone in/near/going to NYC, they've just announced a major discount on tickets for certain performances of "Little Shop": Sink your teeth into this: Right now, you can get LITTLE SHO P OF HORRORS tickets for only $50 a piece. If you're already a fan, here's your chance to come back for...

New 2 Year Sponsorship Deal For "Between The Lions"

Chick-Fil-A (which I guess is a US-based restaurant chain) has just announced they will be sponsoring two years of PBS' "Between the Lions." No word yet on whether this means the show is going back in to production. Here's the press release ~ http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/040121/clw042_1.html

    Please help

Read over the first part of the tutorial Buckshot mentioned. For a head like Zoot's you probably need 6 or 7 wedges that are four times as long as they are wide. It's hard to say exactly, most puppet building requires a certain amount of trial and error. I hope that helps!

    Crank Yanker Style

The Crank Yanker puppets were designed by a New York design outfit called Funny Garbage. C.Y. was their first puppet job. They sort of got it by accident because Jimmy Kimmel (one of the producers) liked their design work. The puppets on the show are pretty basic - although stylized - foam...

Info on a Puppet Video Short

Hey Larry - I posted this in another thread recently, but I picked up a Cannon ZR60 Mini-DV camera with some grant money I got last year for the film thing I'm doing. I got it because it was about the cheapest Cannon camcorder I could find (I like Cannon because the optics tend to be superior to...

    Cousin Skeeter

Has anyone seen this show on Nick? I don't think it airs here in Canada. Apparently Peter Linz performs Skeeter (puppetry only, not the voice).

Want to be in Avenue Q?

Cool. I think Peter is actually an understudy for a bunch of characters including Rod, Brian, Nicky, Trekkie Monster and one of the "Bad News Bears". I've never met him but by all accounts he is supposed to be a great guy!
