I think visability is a good thing - donating puppets to offline charity silent auctions might be a good way to get your name out there. Another would to have your puppets (or a specific character) partner with a local charity like Fozzie has done with Muley and Ronald McDonald House in TN.
Hmm...I'm not sure why they picked it, but I checked the web site and there is a whole series of dates the show is touring the US:
3rd April, 2004 4:00 PM College Park, MD
4th April, 2004 4:00 PM Pittsburgh, PA
10th April, 2004 3:00 PM Troy, NY
17th April, 2004...
This looks like it an interesting show, I've heard of Ramdas Padhye and always been a little curious about his work:
> Association for India's Development Inc.(AID) presents
>
> RAMDAS PADHYE's
> PUPPET SHOW
>
> An entertaining evening of hilarious talking
> dolls and naughty...
Looks like after 50 years of mayhem and property damage the helpless, screaming citizens of Tokyo will finally be getting some relief....CNN is reporting that Toho Studios - the producers of the Godzilla franchise - are planning to shelve the Godzilla films after this year's finale due to...
What on earth do you do with ten MySQL databases?
Seriously though, that sounds like a really good deal. I deal with Doteasy which will actually host your site for free if you use them to tranfer/renew/buy your domain name. The free package doesn't include CGI scripts, PHP or...
Yoda is CG again. I believe Frank did his first ADR secession last month (or he was scheduled to anyway). He has a new movie coming out - "The Steppford Wives" and it's likely he spent a day or two doing Muppet segments for the upcoming season of Sesame Street, though that has not been confirmed.
It's official - Angel is all but dead. IGN Filmforce is reporting that UPN has declined to pick up the series because they are in bad financial shape - partially due to the high license fees they paid for the final seasons of Buffy - and they feel that Angel is just too expensive. The producers...
Anyone else excited about next year's Batman Begins? I think the title is a little lame (hopefully it's a working title) but it looks like it will be interesting. They say they have moved away from the look and tone of the past movies and will be doing a complete "reboot" of the film franchise...
Doesn't this just return the company to the structure it had before Frank Wells died?
Has anyone else seen the cartoon they've got on the frontpage of Savedisney.com right now? It's pretty funny.
The odd Muppet has slipped through over the years. There was a Muppet puppet Caroll Spinney designed for sale through the PofA board a few years ago that was legit. The concensus seems to be that the infamous Kermit that surfaced a few months ago on ebay might have been the real deal from...
AVID's software is higher end (the full version retails for about $1,500) and is aimed at professional and "prosumer" users while Ulead is aimed more at the consumer market I think. As I said I'm not sure exactly what features are disabled in the free version of AVID DV but it's safe to assume...
You should probably check with whatever branch of the government regulates business in your area, business license requirements vary state to state and city to city in some cases. There may also be federal regulations you have to follow if the feathers are classified as an agricultural product...
Hi all! I wanted to pass along some info about a really neat Puppet Festival that is going in to it's second year this year - Puppetfest Midwest. Among those doing workshops are Drew Allison (co-author of the Foam Book) and Luman Coad an amazing and highly respected Canadian puppeteer
Here's...
Here's another lead I heard about last week that I forgot to post...it's from South Florida:
> ...Our Freshman class is planning a
> talent show and some friends
> and I were thinking of performing the song
> "Everyone's a Little Bit Racist"
> from the musical Avenue Q. Staying true to...
Muppeteer John Kennedy is going to be doing a series of puppet building workshops in April. This is not through the Muppets but based on his new book "Puppet Mania" which is a really great book for anyone interested in puppetry.
Here's some more info:
Hands In Art and The Orlando Repertory...
Really? Where? John's web site is www.puppetkit.com but I don't think he has much content from the books online there, except for some stuff about his "Bananna Buddies".
BTW, if you order the book from John's site he sends you an autographed copy.
Good luck! BTW, a lot of these posts I do come off the PofA national and guild Bulletin Boards and the puptcrit email list. They are all good sources of puppetry gigs.
