There's a People Magazine article than ran a few weeks after he died; it discusses a bunch of the projects that were in the works. The link is below:

I'm fairly certain BITBBH was not conceived by Jim Henson. I think it was actually developed by outsider producers and then bought by Henson, as Philip mentioned, in the mid-90s. All of the 90s Muppet Movies were written after Jim's death but reportedly there were lots of ideas floating around...
This project has been in the works for awhile...it was planned before Shrek 2 was finished if I'm not mistaken. I loved Antonio Banderas in Shrek 2 - I think he'll be hard to top.
Dinosaurs was in the early stages of development and was produced a few years after his death....I think at the time of his death there was talk of a "Muppet High" TV series and several possible Muppet movie ideas were floating around.
Those are some good points. I didn't mean to suggest that people shouldn't post questions, just that like any forum that's been around awhile the same questions come up again and again. We really need a puppet building FAQ. That would be helpful.
I'm not suggesting that anyone has to spend $2000 on a puppet - that's crazy and unrealistic for most people. These days there are some very good ones you can find at reasonable prices and some puppet builders underprice their work for a variety of reasons. You have to do whatever your budget...
You really have to have a lot of patience if you want to get in to mechs. I've noticed here over the years that when people are just getting started they have tons of enthusiasm - which is great - but they want to do everything all at once. It takes years to learn how to do all this stuff...
Oh you just need a pattern? I have a half dozen or so different ones lying around. I'll try to scan one for you later in the week because I have to scan a bunch of patterns for someone.
Rick has a great page on his site where he compares his custom work to "their Stock puppets" (basically the cheaper Muppet-style puppets you see on ebay and elsewhere). A lot of people here have asked why one puppet can cost $200 while a similar-looking one costs $2000. Rick explains the...
I've often wondered if the Muppet Workshop was consulted on the design of those - they are some of the best mass-produced "toy" puppets ever made. Considering what most "toys" of that era were like it would be surprising to me if the manufacturer (Fisher Price?) came up with it completely on...
Something worth remembering is that as much as many older (say 6 & up) people love Sesame Street, it's not really made for the fans. It has a very specific educational mandate and they are constantly reviewing and updating the show's circulum. Programming-wise Sesame Workshop is obligated to be...
I believe the Sesame issue was not a deal breaker. The real problem was that Disney lowered it's original offer for JHC after Jim's death; rightly so since a big part of the deal for them was getting not just the company but also Jim Henson's "creative services" on an exclusive basis. The Henson...
They have almost everything from the LOTR trilogy in storage in New Zealand. They're hoping to open a museum but the Tolkien estate has blocked it so far.
