Try making a Kermit, that will teach you a lot about puppet construction and he's one of the easier puppets to do. If you search the forum you'll find links to Kermit and Scooter head patterns (they were copied from plush toys) that work well.
Or maybe somebody has a direct link to them handy?
I don't have time to go through all of your questions, but the glue ones jumped out at me so I'll tackle them:
I have the utmost respect for Drew Allison and Grey Seal the way they fail to address safety issues and contact cement in that video is stupid and totally irresponsible. There's just...
Try joining the Christpup mailing list (do a Google search for it). I believe there are several databases of ministry scripts on the net or at least there used to be. The Christpup folks can probably help you out.
There's no reason you can't incorporate a podcast in to an existing site, although I would probably create a special directory for it. I've seen problems with sites that mix multiple RSS Feeds in the same directory if you're using publishing software like Blogger or Movable Type.
I don't think...
Questions about podcasting came up in the Alien Alerts thread so I decided to do a few short pieces about podcasting and how it works in my blog this week. I've posted the first of these here so if you're interested in getting in to doing puppetry and podcasting feel free to check it out...
I am going to Parque Plaza Sesamo (the Plaza Sesamo theme park in Monterrey, Mexico) over the weekend unless the weather gets extremely cold and I plan to scope out the merchandise available and file a full report.
Hey everybody,
I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit Parque Plaza Sesamo (the Mexican version of the Sesame Place Theme park) over the weekend here in Mexico and I was wondering if anyone has ever been. Any thoughts? Suggestions?
I'm planning to grab lots and lots of pics and...
I don't know about that. Do you really think so?
I think one of the more interesting developments in puppetry over the past 10, 15 years is the trend towards "deconstruction", that is showing more of the strings and rods and "behind the scenes" stuff. I think that makes it more interesting...
I have this theory that comics, animation and puppetry are all similar because they traditionally been mislabeled "kiddie entertainment" by the media even if that label and no basis in reality - I'd bet there were millions of adult looney tunes fans were there when you were in the 8th grade...
I think that the misconception is definately out there, but it's largely illusionary. If you ask people point blank "what is the primary audience for puppetry?" they might say kids, but it would be no different if you said cartoons. But they'll watch puppetry, even if they say it's only for...
I know this comes up a lot here, especially with newer members so I thought I would share some nice drawing for eye mechs (for anyone new "mech" = mechanical puppet control for eyes or whatever). These are by Shawn Sorrell who runs Puppetsandstuff.com...
Yes, but the real story is Clana (Clark+Lana) is finally over. Or so we hope.
Next up for Smallville? Lexana (Lex+Lana) and you just know that going to go bad fast.
I love Smallville. It's one of the last two shows I still watch (the other is Law & Order: SVU).
