Thanks...
Well, I can tell you this:
As a Disney shareholder I get a corporate report every so often and the most recent one has NO mention of ANY Muppet projects whatsoever.
That's bad.
If Disney was serious about pushing the Muppets, they'd be gushing to their shareholders about how the Muppets...
Not to impugn your comprehension ability, but I think you've missed the point.
Nobody here is saying that the world no longer wants the Muppets. That's ludicrous. And nobody here is saying that they should stop doing stuff because they suck. That's not it either.
What everybody here is...
Not a whit of dis-agreement on THAT point!
As long as it's not a certain puppeteer whose name begins with Kevin.
(No offense, big K, but I personally don't think you're the man for the job. Just MHO.)

Baba,
Yes, there are other Hensons, but so far they ALL have been conspicuously absent when anyone says, "Okay, who's gonna take the helm of the Classic Muppets?"
Jane is functioning as the head of the Henson Legacy. She really didn't have much to do with the classic Muppets after she and...
Sorry to disagree with you Baba, but I couldn't more heartily.
The Muppets have lost their guiding light.
I have no doubt that another person of vision will eventually come along, as it did with Disney Animation so long ago. You have to admit, though Eisner turned out to be not such a great...
The Muppets themselves are an American property... but The Muppet Show on the other hand, is DEFINITELY a BritiMerican hybrid.
But hey, I don't care who claims it... I'm just glad to have grown up on it!

Well, there's nothing wrong with insisting on better.
The Muppets have one big problem at the moment: they have no leader. They have nobody with a singular vision to lead them. What they have right now is a bunch of marketing strategists trying to quantify them so they can pidgeon-hole them...
From what I understand, though, it is NOT the marketing folks at Disney who came up with this idea to begin with, but fans of the Muppets who were in positions to suggest it.
And like any marketing decision, it was harangued and harrumphed and agonized over uselessly by groups of people...
I respect your opinion, but if you look at the examples of many of the other extremely popular and excessively marketed Disney characters (Mickey Mouse, Tinkerbell, Donald Duck, Eeyore, etc.) you'll see that mass merchandising does not indicate impetus for movies or television production...
I have seen both ads and they only serve to raise my concern over what the MHC is doing with the characters.
It has been suspiciously silent over there since the big shake up after Eisner left.
There have been lots of "we're paring back this" or "we're putting that on hold". But one would...
We shouldn't have to.
Like you, I find myself increasingly concerned about how MHC is handling the Muppets.
Quite honestly, what I've perceived recently is not much more than the Muppets being used as shills for product. Nothing other than trying to cash in on the established entertainment...
