Yeah, I know Ruth Buzzi has done many voice overs for the cartoon segments as well. They never had an episode that explains why the characters left though? Would have been nice. Also, did Zoe ever introduce herself to anyone or did they just show her as already being friends with Elmo?

Sesame Street Unpaved IS Sesame Street. It is the exact same show with the same characters. There is absolutely no point in making a separate line of figures. Maybe they can come up with exclusives and label them "Unpaved" as to say they are classic versions, for example an orange Oscar or...
