I think they just enjoy one-uping Fozzie. They heckle him, but they always do it with another joke, as opposed to simply saying nasty things like "you stink" or "get off the stage" a la Showtime at the Apollo. The role of Statler and Waldorf goes back to the Restoration Theatre period when...

Hoots (voice-over) Muppet Dorms were brought to you today by the letters D for Duckie, F for Fraggle, and the number 5. The Dorms is a thread of the Muppet Central Forum. Goodnight, dudes!
Bry: Fraggles, we'd like to give you each a present from us in room 29. (hands Red, Boober, Wembley, Gobo and Mokey each a box with a Doozerstick house inside).
Telly: Hope you like them. We worked all day on them.
Oh my gosh!! Beautiful!! I LOVE LOVE LOVED this scene!! It was from just this last season I believe. It was nice to see such a tender moment between Bob and Big Bird again. Beautiful!!!!
Ernie: Can I have everyone's attention please! I know that we have many birthdays to celebrate today, but I would like to take this time to pay special tribute to a very good friend of mine. Prairie, if you please?
(Prairie Dawn nods and starts to play the piano freely and relaxed following...
Bry: Thanks, Ed. Here's copies of the song for you and The Count. Let's head on down to the pool house. Telly, help me carry these boxes please.
Telly: What are they?
Bry: Presents for the Fraggles.
(Everyone arrives at the pool house which has been decorated with colorful streamers...

Bert: Hi.
Bry: Where's Rowlf?
Bert: He's...not home. (looking down)
Bry: Not home? Where is he?
Bert: I don't know. He took himself for a walk or something.
Bry: Oh great...I'm not good enough at the piano to play this song.
(a small knock on the door is heard)...
I'd really like to see the sets continue on through the years though. I'd like to see such series highlights as Luis/Maria's Wedding, Hooper's Death and Miles adoption. While I love seeing the old episodes from before I was born, I'd also like the moments that I grew up with watching in the 80s.
