The rumors are true. I did a bit of research. The writer's name is Timothy A. McDonald and he is collaborating with Paul Williams and the Jim Henson Company on the adaptation.
Bryan: So, I located Cookie Monster.
Ernie: Where was he?
Bryan: Well, I called Kathy and she said that he was down in her room. And get this, he was giving Prairie the idea to write a play about exercise and healthy eating.
Ernie: No kidding? Cookie Monster? Blue, furry, googly-eyed...
I've always pronounced it that way too, Steve. "Muppy 3". Actually more like "Mup P3". Sounds right, not so awkward. I guess it really doesn't matter here though, since we all spell it the same way and we know what it means.
Yes, I think that the look is what made me think of him at first, but Drew Carey also has such a jolliness about him as well as a genuine warmth. I think Carey could capture the sense of humor. He was a television writer too. And those glasses! Haha!
Then again, maybe it would be better...
