    Boohbah?

Okay, I'll try to check out the show today sometime. But, it doesn't really matter what we think (I'm sure I'll hate it within 30 seconds). The important thing is that kids enjoy the show!! Have you read through the show's website? It explains the purpose of the show and what it's trying...

Do you want Rowlf as Toto?

Just a thought... Not sure if anyone's suggested this before, but what about Sprocket from Fraggle Rock? He's hilarious as a kind of background/non-speaking character and that's all Toto really has to be. I can just imagine him dancing in the background of some musical number like in MFC...

    Boohbah?

Well, the target ages of 3-6 were taken off the FAQ on the show's website. I'm pretty sure the show's creators/producers didn't just pick that age group out of nowhere. They must have had some data to back it up. I agree that it'd be better to just turn off the TV to make kids active but...

    Old character?

Actually, his name was Teeny Little Super Guy. If memory serves me, he interacted with assorted other kitchen items. One of my fave skits as a kid. Theme song courtesy of the site below (my memory was too fuzzy!!): http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Venue/9926/teeny.html "Pops right...

    Boohbah?

Ok, I admit I haven't seen the show (and that web site is beyond bizarre). But, I have to admire the goal of the program: to get children off the couch and exercising. Apparently, the idea is that kids (ages 3-6) will mimic the movements of the Boobahs(?) and thus become more active. So...

    Your Hope for the Future?

That's a very good point. Disney is obviously having a lot of problems, so they might not be a good fit for the Muppets right now (or vice versa). Hopefully, they can get everything worked out in the near future, as they would be a good fit for the Muppets as far as reach and clout. Consider...

    Your Hope for the Future?

MY opinion on the future... I know this probably isn't popular opinion here on MC, but I actually hope a company like Disney or Time-Warner buys the Muppets. Or, at least reaches a distribution agreement with them. The Muppets just need a company with more cash and clout than JHC to pump life...

    Jim Henson Television Channel

Thanks for the info, Phil. It's too bad Odyssey didn't take off a few years ago. It was awesome to see some of that stuff back on the air--at least until my cable system replaced Odyssey with the Eternal Word Network.

    Jim Henson Television Channel

Good question. I'm not certain of the dynamics of the relationship, but I believe Henson owned a significant percentage of Odyssey along with Hallmark Entertainment. Back in the late 90s, Odyssey showed classic Henson shows like The Muppet Show and Fraggle Rock. There was also a Kermit...

    Boglins

I vaguely remember them as toys--I think. Not really sure if there was a TV show or anything else. They were sort of monsters or trolls that almost looked like Shrek. Is that right? Or am I thinking of something else?

Is anyone interested in a great books thread?

Which one was Shadows of the Empire? I read A LOT of the Star Wars ones back in the mid-90s. Personally, I always preferred Timothy Zahn's trilogy that began with Heir to the Empire (I can't remember the other two's titles). These were some of the first mass-market novels based on the...

    New movies coming out...

I think they are announced in early February. It'll be interesting to see what gets nominated. I'd really like to see Peter Jackson win--it's absolutely incredible how well he made movies out of books as legendary as Lord of the Rings.

    Fear Factor

So, why is reality television seen as the low point of society? I'll admit that most of it's not very intelligent, but I enjoy some of the shows like The Apprentice and even the first Joe Millionaire. These shows entertained me. Yeah, they're all a little silly but my friends and I have fun...

    Sesame's 35th season kicks off with a prime-time special

I'm sure they will be. At the least, they'll be in several old skits/flashbacks. This special sounds like it could be very nostalgic and fun. I'm so looking forward to it!!

    Lord of the Rings

So, will the extended edition have the entire scouring of the Shire sequence or just an abbreviated version with Saruman's death? As I said before, I've never enjoyed that part of the book but it makes sense to show what happens to Saruman--especially if one takes in all three films...

    Favorite Real-life Films

I agree. The crayon factory one was mesmerizing--something about all those colors. I still think of it today everytime I see a box of crayons. It's a definite classic and still one of my favorite Sesame memories.

Do you want Rowlf as Toto?

In the 1985 movie Return to Oz, Dorothy travels through Oz with a pet chicken (er, hen) instead of Toto. Brian Henson even worked on that film. Not sure they necessarily want to copy much from that movie though.

    I Need Some Advice

My cousins are around that age and NEVER watched Sesame Street as kids. They were big into Power Rangers, Barney, Blue's Clues and (of course) the Nickelodeon shows. However, this clearly isn't true of all kids that age. I just think there's more on TV than when most of us were kids...
