The reason I like to pin rather than sew, is that, especially on my puppet with gloved hands, it's impossible to change his clothes with his head on. It would damage his head to try and squeeze it through the neck hole of a shirt.
Also, it's much easier to build spare bodies that are wearing...
It wouldn't have made a difference. If you got cut after the lip-sync, you could have written on the other side that you were miraculously transplanted with Jim Henson's own vocal chords and (even if that was true) they wouldn't have listened to you.
:p
You're not crazy. Check out this picture again:
Puppet Backs
You can clearly see him on the left side of this picture next to the Count, exactly where you said. There are at least three fat blue Anything Muppets in the group.

For a long time now, I threatened... er, promised to reveal who I really am. Well, my friend and partner in one of my current projects, Jerry Beck, has written a very nice and flattering little article about me and I hereby link to it:

I actually kind of like a little bit of a pilled look. The original nylon fleece that the Muppets used to use would pill. Take a look at the first season DVD's of the Muppet Show. Kermit is pretty pilled.
I'm not really fond of the shinier look of the antron fleece. Especially the newer...
There are definite similarities in story structure as you pointed out. And certainly the opening line of "Rainbow Connection" (Why are there so many songs about rainbows / And what's on the other side?) is a direct reference to "Over the Rainbow". But I wouldn't actually say it was "based on"...
In fact, I once asked Jim about that very thing. I was going to post this in another thread about how the puppets themselves have changed over the years, but here is equally as appropriate.
My feeling is that some of the personality is in the puppet itself. I still think the original Ernie...
That's the way it is supposed to look. I have the logo sweatshirt and it is the same.
Now, you still may not like that look, which is certainly your prerogative, but it wasn't a defective item.

They may have stopped running Boomerang ON Cartoon Network, but it's its own separate channel. As they say, if your cable operator doesn't carry Boomerang, call and request it!
:p
Besides the DVD's that Kimp mentioned (Season 4 comes out in November with Yours Truly doing audio commentary), they are still run on Boomerang, the spin-off of the Cartoon Network.
:p
Nothing has been set yet, but I know some of the people involved in this project are pushing for it to come with a display case. Of course, that would add to the price.
:p
They seem to have definitely moved things around. Carol Burnett's outfit is now in a case with Fonzie's jacket, Sid Caesar's top hat, Ted Baxter's Channel 12 blazer and Charlie McCarthy.
Howdy Doody, Oscar, the Sesame Steet sign and Mr. Roger's sweater are another case. (The two cases are...
I'm sorry, but I have to respectfully disagree with those that are down on this idea.
First of all, we don't know what the number available will be. Let's say it's 1,000. That's 1,000 out of 270,000,000 people in this country. That hardly makes Kermit as common as a box of cereal...
Howdy Doody was still there. He was in the same case as Oscar.
The secret to taking flash pictures of the cases is to take them at an angle so the flash bounces off in another direction and not straight back into the camera lens. Of course, that doesn't do you any good 14 years later.
