I remember seeing Song of the Cloud Forest on TV years ago. At the time all the colors and stuff were very high tech! I guess I saw it on the Jim Henson Hour. But I remember not really knowing that the JHH was a TV show, I thought there were just an unusual number of Muppet specials that year!
Yeah and I didn't like the college years. It just didn't have the same magic. Plus, that gigantic dorm they lived in was completely unrealistic! At least, it wasn't the dorm I had!
Anyway, the original was the best.

It still makes sense. Maybe they were planning out the idea of Muppet Babies, and then used them in Muppets Take Manhattan to see if the idea was workable and drum up some early attention.
I think "Doc" is just a nickname, like "Doc" from Snow White. Although I could be missing something.
I always knew his name was Doc, but oddly I don't remember how I knew that. I obviously heard it somewhere, but I don't have a clue where. And I'm pretty sure I never bothered reading the credits!
I agree, the entertainment industry is a business, and yes people are in it to make money. There is no shame in that. And it doesn't mean money is the ONLY reason.
Richard didn't have many lines, so most of his performance was facial expressions. And he really knew how to get it all across. From being confident at the beginning of the scene, to completely losing it by the end.
