Well this was pretty nice to watch. :) There have been better interviews, but at least he wasn't mean to Piggy. And I'm glad he mentions Jim so much. Steve did a good job. He actually sounded a little like Wembley at the beginning, hehe.
I don't know who owns it for sure. However, the special was produced by and broadcast on CBS. From the TP description, it sounds like the show was never intended for PBS, it was made on the cheap with only a few regular cast members and puppeteers.
So it would make sense that CBS would have...
Oh definitely, you're right, I don't put the blame on the performers. Ultimately, it's the writing. Though, interviewers have always brought up the Piggy thing to Kermit. I don't think that's a new development.
I have not seen the general public accepting the 'modern' Muppets with open arms...
I really believe it's the writing. Kermit's character description has always included "occasionally makes cheeky remarks about Piggy." There is no disputing that.
However, the classic Muppets did this with sophistication, wit and class. It was true adult humor. The so-called 'modern' Muppets...
I got to see The Christmas Toy the other night, which was great. It's my all-time favorite Muppet Christmas special. I used to watch it all the time as a child, though it actually used to scare me a little, with the toys being frozen and the dark hallway shots.
It's so different from your...
Wow, they've just started showing Trading Places AGAIN today (4:30pm est)!!! So if anyone missed it last time, here's another chance! lol
Meep, I know what you mean about DVD quality color. Though, at least Comedy Central's copy looks a lot sharper than Spike TV's did! :) I actually kept...
Lol, Wow, Comedy Central has started showing Trading Places AGAIN today, starting at 4:30Pm (Eastern). So if you missed it the last time, here's another chance! :)
Aw, sorry I beat you to it, Kiki. Nice to know someone else remembered. :)
Yeah...I've come to expect that from Yoko. But I hope she can learn to forgive eventually. Of course, it's hard to forgive when someone has taken a loved one away from you. But forgiveness isn't supposed to be easy.
I was kind of down the other day. Then I started singing "Simon Smith" to myself, just absent mindedly. And I actually started to feel better, it's a very upbeat number. :)
This is very short notice, but they're showing the movie Trading Places on Comedy Central right now. It just started at 8pm Eastern, so you have a chance at catching Frank and Richard's cameos!
Don't know if anyone will see this in time, but they're showing Trading Places again on Comedy Central right now (8pm E). It just started so you have time to catch Richard's cameo. :)
Sure he did! He grew up to be Robin Williams! Sounds like a good deal to me. :)
Did everyone see the update about the Fraggle Rock movie?

"However when discussion moved towards the Gorgs, Zappa got suspiciously...
I liked most of Hal Sparks' remarks on "I Luv the '80s" except for the one about Fraggle Rock. Though I can kinda understand, he was probably a teenager when the show was first on. No reason he would have understood it.
I totally agree about the negative spin in the media. The whole attitude...
I definitely have mixed feelings about AVMMC. But I don't think it's right to complain on this thread. What I did enjoy was Kermit's realization that he should never have wished he was never born. It was a nice message. And it was great to see Scooter. :) ;)
I got to see The Christmas Toy the...
Of course, I don't want to see Piggy forgotten. But Kermit's character used to make light hearted jabs. The more recent jabs are mean spirited, and I don't believe that anything is better than nothing. :)
Still, I don't need to complain too much. The good old days are still available for...
Honestly, I'm not expecting the movie to be as good as the TV show. Fraggle Rock is a classic, and it's always hard to make lighting strike twice. I just hope it's good, period. :)
I agree; I mean obviously in the old days, Kermit made comments about Piggy out of frustration and annoyance. But the comments were clearly out of love at the same time. He was just annoyed that she came on so strong. He never threw her to the wolfs in front of other people like he does now, as...
