Hehe, that's probably true! Like I said, our country is extremely hypocritical in this area (and about our treatment of children in general but that's another story).
Yeah it disgusts me that our own country decries child labor and other unfair labor conditions, yet we still benefit from it because another nation practices it.
Well as a "classic fan", heh, I don't mind the idea. The Around the Corner thing doesn't bother me. I mainly just hope the characters ands plots are well written. :)
Oh dear, hehe, well I just didn't see all the other posts until that time. Again, sorry for the confusion. Yes, gas isn't cheap! (Just like Muppet Show DVDs hehe). :)
Yeah the sheer amount of characters in the special is astonishing! And I love all the old footage like commercials and Sam and Friends. Even when I was little I found that fascintating (and any behind the scenes stuff).
R: Uncle Kermit, what's your favorite part about the Muppets?
K: Well you...
I agree, ultimately Hollywood's main motivation is money. It is a business. However, I don't think they are losing any money from making straight Christmas specials. They are still occasionally made today and most people in the country celebrate Christmas. (Not that I think they shouldn't...
I'm sorry, I was not saying I was getting a copy or that it was available. I was sarcastically referring to A Mickey Muppet's experience with Wal Mart. I dislike Wal Mart and thought it was humorous that it only had the non felt cover. I am sorry for the confusion. :)
But at least the official...
In the 30th Anniversary special? No it's purely a Muppet affair (except for a cameo by Jim at the end, so cute!) I used to have this on tape years ago from Nickelodeon. Ugh, WHY did I tape it over?
Yeah I love that picture too, lol, no problem! ;)
I agree, I think that was well put. MFS and other modern projects seem to be trying to bring the original edge and sweetness, but it comes out either slightly mean or fake, at least for me.
And yes even if there are good parts to them, they cannot be compared to the earlier films when Jim was...
Yeah definitely that's how I celebrate and it's important. Christmas should be about being happy and celebrating. God decided to become a human being so he could be like us and eventually save us, it's an amazing thing.
And yes people forget the Christmas tree does have spiritual meaning. :)
Yeah Santa Claus was based on a St. Nicolas, who was said to be a savior and advocate of children. Years later the Church decided he wasn't a saint because he hadn't been properly canonized. Which makes no sense to me. If he wasn't canonized back then, then do it now! He was important to...
I remember the Glass Popsicle one! That got such a reaction when I watched it with a group!
I do think they stopped making so many PSAs because they decided they weren't having an impact. But I think it's a shame, they gave the impression that our society has values and actually cares about...
Which is sad because I think one of the purposes behind Santa Claus (based on a real person btw) is to teach children about having faith in something they can't see. It's a introduction to the idea of faith. And also the idea of giving and receiving. Santa is certainly presented that way in...
Well, I guess like we said before it's very subjective. I can't watch MFS for more than two seconds, it really gets me down. The humor is just too jaded and mean, and not as clever as previous productions. In my opinion. Clearly you see something in it that I don't, and that's fine. :)
I...
Right the Charlie Brown special was from a slightly different time. Back then they seemed to be worried about Christmas becoming too commerical. Nowadays, the concern is that it's becoming too secularized.
