That's not so strange about Colonel Potter, there is a certain attractiveness to smoking. Otherwise, so many people wouldn't be doing it.
It's a matter of understanding that just because something feels good, doesn't mean it is good. :)
Lol, very true. I guess I'm not as upset about seeing smoking on cartoons because I don't think that's why kids start smoking. As far as I can tell, kids start smoking to be cool and rebellious like their friends. Actually, now that I think about it, maybe the teen shows that have cool teens...
That's how I feel too. It's not about being against changes. I have nothing against changes. But it's not something I recognize now or enjoy. It's not for me anymore. And not just because I'm an adult. I honestly don't think I would have watched it when I was a kid the way it is now.
But as...
I think it's true, sanitizing things so they look cute and harmless isn't necessarily a good thing. It's like the Stepford Wives; they're pretty and colorful and sweet, but there's nothing under the surface. (And I'm sorry but I see some of the same thing in Elmo's World).
Then there's shows...
Yup, it would be good for people to understand the Muppets are something everyone can enjoy. Hopefully that means the humor would be both childlike and adult. Not childish or immature (There is a difference ;) )
Well I do agree, I don't always like it when people in this country use the words "Nazis" or "dictators" etc. It's not that big a deal, but we in the US don't understand the meaning of those words, we just throw them around. The problems we have don't compare to the problems other countries...
I really don't mind Disney, as long as they make the effort to use their newly acquired Muppets (which it looks like they're slowly trying to do). But I'll never stop talking about the "old days." ;)
And it's true, the Muppets still have plenty of fans. It's the companies that don't seem to...
IMDB says original animated series ("The Alvin Show") was from 1961 to 1962.
I loved Clyde Crashcup and Leonardo btw, hilarious! Too bad they can't be in the movie.
Jamboree's a big one, always cheers me up!
Gonzo's entire appearance on the Paul Simon episode:
("Oh no wait you can't do this to me! Camilla, this is treason!")
("I stayed up all night working on the leg frying motive!")
Muppets Take Manhattan: "What job am I getting?"
The Muppet...
I'm not going to be around my computer much this weekend, so I thought I would just leave with this message..."thinking of you!" ;)

Yeah, it's still happening
And I am getting errors when I try posting again. First it says there's an error, which seems to mean the message didn't go through. Then when I try posting again, it says it's a duplicate of the message I just posted.
That's so funny, I was just talking about all this with a friend the other day! He's a big fan of MCC, but he didn't mind discussing why I wasn't as much. And I don't mean to put down anyone else who is a fan. It's just an exchange of opinions. :)
Yeah, I remember my initial reaction to MCC...
Btw, thanks for posting again, Bill!
I was reminded of something Emmy (of "Your Face!" fame) posted in a thread awhile ago, I think about watching Muppet Christmas Carol:
"The other week I was watching the Christmas movie. As I was watching the end, where all of the characters were singing...
I saw that before, it's great having them all in one place, lol. I'm very impressed at Family Guy's generous attention to the Muppets (even when their humor is a bit...em...odd!)
I don't know why but I always imagined Forgetul Jones finally turning up again out of nowhere at the end of a special or the end of the series (not that I'm wanting that), having finally remembered "how to get to Sesame Street." Lol
