It is very strange that they seem to prefer the non Muppet segments. If they want to teach letters and numbers etc, there is a lot of Muppet footage, old and new, that they could be using. But perhaps they are required to use work from outside artists.
Nice again! It's rare to see such complete summaries. I've never seen the episode "Gone But Not Forgotten" but just reading that made me imagine what it's like and tear up. ::sniff:: (It's great that it seems the DVDs will continue!)
Amen to that! Another important lesson to teach kids: just because something's old, doesn't mean you throw it away. Someday the things you love will be old too, and you would want them to be treated with respect. It's good to set an example now. Or there will be nothing left worth preserving.
Here's a clip of Kukla and Ollie (minus Fran, who was a live person for any one unfamiliar) on a 1969 Perry Como Christmas special (towards the middle). Personally, I think they're adorable! Lol

Here's a much earlier one as well...
I've seen that episode of The Tonight Show, so funny! I was amazed at how much time was given to the Muppets, other than Kermit, like Scooter and Statler and Waldorf. ;) :boo:
I saw a small article in People Magazine about Tina Fey appearing on Sesame Street. She said something along the lines of looking back at old Sesame Street is like looking back at old Saturday Night Live, "You know, Bert and Ernie used to be the stars."
Well, the new season of Sesame Street...
Ack, correction! It was Fozzie who said "Foul!" I've seen the episode a hundred times and somehow missed that. :o
I was probably too busy looking at Scooter. ;)
That's great that Abby was kinda cute. I'm probably bias but I would love a female character to be successful.
That's too bad about no Bert, Ernie and Grover in this episode. Hopefully that will change. I think when I have children, the first DVDs I will buy will be "The Best of Bert and...
Just wanted to mention that someone uploaded Mother Goose Rock and Rhyme a little while ago. I'd highly recommend, it's such a unique and hilarious story. Shelley's very good in it, as is Little Richard (so cool! Lol). I probably liked Gordon best (Mother Goose's grown up son, fed up with living...
Yeah it's true, smoking doesn't guarantee that you will have health problems. (George Burns lived for years while smoking) But it does make it much more likely, which is why it's not worth the risk.
But yeah other countries make better eating choices. Americans eat too much artificial food and...
Right, it's just that it's unclear right now if a 2 disk set will ever happen. So people want to see the specials somehow. And I personally don't think they're that inappropriate for The Muppet Show disks. A lot of "random" things are put on DVD bonus features.
I have heard about Statler's...
I got to see an episode of Kukla, Fran and Ollie recently, it was actually very funny, and surprisingly politically aware, making jokes about politics in the '60s. :)
I didn't realize Kevin Clash was sought after before he joined the Muppets, that's pretty cool. So Richard just happened to run...
I do really like "The First Time It Happens", it's so sweet and sensitive. And it's rather grown up, like it's about an experienced couple who have had bad experiences in the past: "And just when you thought you'd forgot how to care."
I also kinda like "I Won't Dance", which Kermit and Piggy...
You would think Zoot isn't very popular with non fanatics. But I've talked to a couple non-fanatic people who didn't know his name but love his um..."out of it" attitude. Lol
Awesome story, Meep, thanks! A pep talk from Richard Hunt...sounds great! Hehe
Hope you had a great time, you were so lucky to get to go. I'd love to hear anything else cool that happened. :)
