L.A.-based The Jim Henson Company has teamed up with Toronto's Decode Entertainment to bring beloved Fraggle Rock characters The Doozers to life in a 3-D animated preschool series that the pair plans to unveil at MIPTV.
Anyone familiar with the calypso-tinged strains of the theme to Jim...
Last night’s chat was very interesting, the busiest one HTF has had. Under the Warner Archive program, Warner will be shipping most of their titles worldwide on professional DVD-Rs, not of home computer quality but manufactured using a proprietary MOD (manufactured-on-demand) method. It sounds...
Despite the revelation that these titles will be burned to DVD-Rs (rather than factory pressed onto better quality retail discs), this still sounds like an amazing opportunity to acquire previously unattainable material. Hopefully more information, including purchasing options for non-USA...
Warner Home Video is unveiling a new, online “on-demand” DVD ordering program! They will be making nearly their entire library (almost 7,000 titles) available, over a period of time, to be purchased as either an online download or on DVD. Rather than mass producing DVDs and shipping them to...
I believe the third version is in early scenes of Gobo's School for Explorers.
The one used for trick shots can definitely be seen in "You're On Your Own," from The Voice Inside.
I hope the artists brought to the project are indeed class acts and do the soundtrack justice. The addition of "big names" should give the film stronger legs and provide added value to a (hopefully by then) still hot property.
I seem to remember about four different Gobos. One for Season 1, one for Season 2, one for Season 3/4 and one used for trick shots. Plus a "poser" puppet appeared occasionally and there was a miniature one for Gorg scenes. The Season 1 puppet had some white in his hair and his eyelids could...
Only the first twelve episodes of the UK version are available to be released. The remaining eighty-four are unfortunately lost. Here is a list of the UK DVDs (which would collectively give you the available shows) and more info on the lost episodes...
HIT may be "world wide," but their contemporaries (Warner Bros, Paramount, Fox, Lionsgate, etc) have much more reach and experience with home video - only one area of operations - than a smaller company who only dealt previously with single-disc DVDs. Jumping to box sets is pretty big.
If...
I think HIT also had a hand in the DVD fiasco. Things were going smoothly until they dumped Fox for Lionsgate. Hopefully, with their new licensing arrangement, Henson will get a big-name distributor to release the fourth season properly.
A potential concern with that situation, however, would...
That's most certainly a problem over here in the US as well. No one is buying BR discs because of the price and, with the ongoing recession, sales of even standard DVDs are down significantly.
This article sums up 2008 US disc sales pretty well: http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/123584
HIT's former distributor, Fox, is pulling the same routine with The Mary Tyler Moore Show, a series whose season DVDs have been incomplete much longer than Fraggle. TVShowsOnDvd predicts the last three seasons, soon to be available only in one big complete series box, will be sold separately...
I've never cared for Lionsgate. Any company that prints their stock market code on the back of their DVDs (instead of, say, their customer service contact info) clearly has their priorities in the wrong place.
And like you, I don't have any Turtles DVDs past three or four. I gave up on them...

Drtooth, have you seen Lionsgate's plans for the 25th anniversary edition of classic TMNT's 7th season?

No one should feel forced to buy anything. Keep in mind, however, there is no sign of an individual Season 4 at the moment, the future of the Fraggles on home video is unclear and the complete series has been significantly reduced in price (and could possibly drop further).
