Happy Halloween, everybody!
Oh yes, children's safety should be the major priority today. Like making sure kids know not to walk into a stranger's house or eat unwrap candy etc. And parents know to be vigilant and not afraid to worry "too much." While still maintaining the fun of course lol...
I know, what I loved about the Easter special was how they differentiated between guilt and shame. Guilt is when you feel bad for the person you hurt; shame is when you mainly concentrate on how bad you feel for your mistakes. (From a religious pov, Judas allowed shame to overpower and destroy...
That is a valid difference, although one could argue Lucas was trying too hard to make a "kid's film". But I stand by the similarities that I was focusing on as well, as far as saying all TV shows and franchises eventually pass their prime.
I think there will always be something new to come along and provide a ripple of hope. Not everyone may agree with this example, hehe, but Star Wars was one of the masters of the Sci-Fi/Fantasy film genre. But in recent years, it suffered greatly from the so-called "prequels." Thankfully, Lord...
It's true, the Christmas special was made during the original series run, but was defintely re aired in 2002 (I remember that happening). Still, I agree, you don't always need to over-modernize things to make them better. People are just afraid to leave these classics untouched.
Though to be...
Well if they wrote different lyrics for each trip, that does means they wanted to be specific to the episode and indicate they were doing something different, not necessarily that the standard bridge was a problem.
Lol, don't feel bad, everyone lags sometimes. It's hard to keep this up for so long! And then others times we just end up posting over and over and it takes forever to catch up. Feel free to comment on whatever you end up reading, ;)
I know really, lol, I think Del would be annoyed about that!
I would bet that Jim Henson had it in mind to base the character around Richard. Just a little construction critiscism, I think Del was probably the best developed character in the pilot; the others were a little more cliche or...
That episode is Inspector Red, it's most likely going to be in the next set though. However, it's also on the DVD Dance Your Cares Away. Hope this helps!
The "Lucy" thing is still up for debate. It's true that the Beatles were doing LSD by that time and freely admitted it. But since they did, they wouldn't have minded admitting any song connection later on (John admitted when other songs were 'drug songs' but always denied the "Lucy" story) Plus...
To be honest, I have to say I still think it's more likely they didn't have Elmo's World in those episodes because Kevin Clash has been taking on more responsibilities.
It is definitely great that they are releasing the Old School DVDs. To be honest, I'd rather show my future kids that than...
I don't mind if they keep Elmo's World on, I understand that kids enjoy it and that's fine. It's more how they remove the other characters that bothers me. The solution shouldn't be to cut out Elmo completely either, there should be a way to combine the old and new. To be honest, even if Elmo's...
Hmm, I hadn't thought of that. That would be ironic! But I always figured that verse wasn't included because the song was just too long for a standard theme. I've actually heard a few famous theme songs that have extras verses which never made it to air.
Yes I believe the controversy to have started when the song originally came out. (And I personally believe John when he says it didn't occur to him, lol). I doubt the song was dumped for that reason, it's probably not that big a deal. Of course, we may never know. Interesting trivia though!
