The Muppets weren't the only ones to be completely edited down to incomprehensible for Super 8.... It isn't quite as terrible plotwise, but the editing is atrocious! It comes off like a Youtube Poop at points.

Compare it with the other crime dramas on television... it's probably the best thing to come out of that genre in ages.

I've always said every character but the father is a jerk in this film. the funny thing is, they changed the original story where the father essentially throws Beauty under the bus, forcing the daughter to be the prisoner, not him. At least, that's in one version... forget which one, though.
