It might just be because you can't identify with Bruce's humour. He's been performing for years and has always been known for laughing at his own jokes and making sly/satirical comments but he's genuinely a really nice guy. His Generation Game series has always been highly popular with British...
Didn't Jerry Nelson explain the oddities a few years back in a thread about the German version of The Muppet Show? Give me a couple of minutes and I'll see if I can find the thread again.

And what about the two times they did the last joke in a different location - in the Danny Kaye episode they did the final joke outside the Muppet Theatre and in the Glenda Jackson episode they did it in the Crow's Nest, with a Crow.
This has been nagging at me for a while, but why does Mildred call out "Nigel!" at the end of the At the Dance sketch on the Juliet Prowse episode? Is she calling out for the House Band Conductor (Nigel) or somebody else?
I have a funny feeling that it might depend on which version you are watching (UK or US). The US credits had more crew credited than the UK version so it might be that certain performers are credited in one version but not another. Can anyone confirm this hypothesis of mine?
There was a thread about all the different versions recorded over the years. One member, Tweedlebug, was very helpful in outlining the different versions. I'll see if I can find the URL.

I finally found the time to watch the sketch using my off-air copy. Most of the Muppets who appear are Whatnots, though the Dog has appeared in a few sketches. I think he's the Dog that Dyan Cannon chooses in her closing number. However, some specific Muppets do appear - Zelda Rose (she's the...
Interesting thoughts, thanks for that. It's been years since I last saw the Shields and Yarnell episode so I'm afraid we'll have to put a question mark beside them until we can get confirmation from someone.
That's a bit unfair; just because you can only hear the Muppets doesn't necessarily mean the Guests weren't singing along as well. When you have a whole lot of voices singing at once you're not going to hear every single voice on their own as they'll all have blended in together.
Dr. Teeth plays onstage in front of the curtain. As he gets to the chorus, some Poison Ivy comes creeping out of the piano and starts "strangling" Dr. Teeth, causing him to slump to the floor.
But the song wouldn't make sense as the Rubber Band men are only onstage sans Carter for a short time, and the song itself goes for a couple of minutes.
ALmost right; he started to do the goodnight, but when it came to saying "Ruth Buzzi" he broke down and instead said "Buth Ruzzi".
In addition, Fozzie introduced Roy Clark at the goodnight to save being hit by Kermit after mentioning there was a fire in the theatre; did he also introduce...
Hijacking this thread briefly, but the actor in question was (as Skeeter Muppet pointed out) Roger Delgado who played the role of the Master between 1971 and 1973/4. Delgado was tragically killed in a car accident while in Turkey; he was due to work on a film there and the car that was to take...
Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy accompanied the Muppets in the backstage number "Consider yourself"; Liberace sang "Has Anybody Seen My Bird?", an adaptation of "Has Anybody Seen My Girl?"
Spike Milligan DID sing "It's a Small World After All" in the guise of a person from the Hawaiian Islands.
You've done absolutely nothing wrong at all; welcome to the boards. It would be nice to see this special on DVD, but I can't see it happening anytime soon mainly due to its "obscurity". From memory this special has been shown only three times in NZ, and the last was approx. 10 years ago. If...
