I agree, it is important to be a little critical in order to notice things that might be wrong.
Well I do think the NYTimes reviewer should be a little more familiar with the Muppets. But I did like this part:
Honestly, even if this special is good, I agree projects of the past will always...
I do get the impression there were a lot of kids that were there on a regular basis that the cast members got to know, which is awesome. Makes me jealous though! :insatiable:
"When you're giving love away, love will come again to stay. And what you give is what you gain when you pass it on!" :excited:
You know for the past few years, Charlie Brown has really been my hero at Christmas. I think we all identify with his melancholy look at the very beginning of the...
Interesting, I was just reading the book Sesame Street and the Reform of Children's Television, and it says "In its early years, Sesame Street had a fresh quality, due in part to Connell's insistence that no child actors be used." Meaning they just used regular kids, as opposed to clearly...
Hmm...honestly I read it as he's just trying to draw an analogy. That the Muppets deserve first class treatment, not that they should be first class on the plane (as you pointed out, that would be wrong ;) ).
I'm not thrilled about the mob stuff. It's unoriginal at this point when anyone does...
I don't think it should be so obligatory to say "Happy Holidays." I'd be perfectly willing to just take the time to mention every holiday in turn equally. :)
But I agree, I love that that special had the nativity story, that really does take guts in this day and age, even though we're supposed...
I'm reminded of Bill Murray from Scrooged, "You're not going to be one of these jerks who says 'Christmas is once a year and it's a fraud!' It's not!" : D
I understand Snowball, my Christmases sometimes had bits of fighting which would put a damper on things. Most families have that, even when the holidays are ultimately good. And with so much stress in my life it gets harder to enjoy Christmas like I used to. But I try to remember that Christmas...
Well I got to volunteer at my Church this past weekend to organize the presents for needy families. It definitely felt good knowing I was doing something good, and for no reward. There should be more emphasis on Christmas being about giving. :)
Ok here goes, in no particular order (and some that haven't been mentioned yet):
1. "The Peace Carol" - Scooter from John Denver and the Muppets
2. "Old Friends, New Friends" - Rugby and friends in The Christmas Toy
3. "When the River Meets the Sea" - Ma and Emmett Otter and boys in Emmett...
One thing that bugs me slightly, lol. I am a spiritual person and all but it was annoying how everyone kept demanding that Oscar be happy about the holidays. I mean sheesh, if he wants to grouch, let the Grouch grouch! :grouchy: ;)
You're right, another trap to fall into is only caring about this stuff around the holidays. It should be something on our minds all year. People don't stop being poor after the holidays. ;)
Oh wow that's interesting! My parents just looked at me sternly and said, "You've gotten enough, be happy." Lol
But I do think it's important for kids, once they reach the age to understand, to see that not everyone is as fortunate as they are. Otherwise you can get caught up in toys and...
That's an interesting point, I can see that. Sometimes pressure results in a better product because you just have to get the most basic but essential things done.
Yeah I love Christmas but I still get annoyed when people keep asking that, lol.
This past weekend I got to volunteer at my Church organizing presents for needy families. It made Christmas seem much more special than it has in years for me. I think a greater emphasis should be put on Christmas...
