If there's one thing that I really can agree with of what went wrong with the prequels, it's the overuse of CGI. Not so much for the lack of realism, but for the weird awkwardness of the bouncy, energetic, overacting characters vs the deadpan serious actors who were getting bad direction...
Hmm... now that I think of it, NONE of the new Arthur characters really look like the same style as the original. Bad enough some of the original characters look off. It somehow looks like they're trying to get the look, yet making it a little more cartoony. Like the eyes are too big on some...
Unfortunately, the general audience doesn't get it, unless it's either Rugrats or adult cartoons to see how much they can get away with. This announcement doesn't distinguish between this being a continuation/connection of the TV series or it's own original thing.
Now, what I'd like to see is...
On the positive side, I can't stress how funny some of these past episodes have been. Brain Freeze is actually quite brilliant. I like how fake Japanese the ice cream chain was, right down to the hostess continuously going "YAAAY!" I wish they gave her an incredibly grating high pitched...
Seems that just before the second film, Lego wants to get another movie out there with their brand. So, instead of a connected film, They've decided to use one of their own sub-brands.
Seems like a pretty solid idea, even though this was a TV series before. And usually movies based on TV...
Cookie has been everywhere the past season. Even if it wasn't for his segment. Just all around a huge jump in Cookie and Grover the past several seasons. And not just on the show, either.
All that's missing is a large, expensive Cookie Monster toy to hit the shelves before the Christmas...
That's the problem with building something up. Things always tend to get revealed in time (if they actually get the time to reveal it, anyway), but it's a heck of a wait for things like that to be revealed.
If there's one thing I really like about the series is that they don't always have...
Eh... that too.
The upside is that using child voices does sound more authentic. Especially if they can act. Arthur uses both, which gives the show an interesting sound. The only adult voice they had to recast (to my knowledge) was Sue Ellen's. Don't know exactly why, though.
Anyway, the...
You guys get this isn't about Christianity, right?
The man she married could have been Jewish, a Scientologist... whatever. It still would have been the same deal. Christianity has diddly to do with this, but rather the maddening pseudo-religious law of an Ultra-Conservative Muslim country...
The world has come to nothing in this case, if anything the world not coming to anything's the problem. This is stubborn, old world, misogynistic, autocracy at its finest. Mind bogglingly idiotic, draconian laws with a loose connection to religion.
Again, that's why Timmy Turner, Bart Simpson, the Kids Next Door, and half the kids on Histeria! are voiced by adults doing kid voices. Kids as voice actors go through puberty and their voices change. The original Arthur VA has to do the voice of one of the Tough Customers now. You can't...
I really hate how it sounds like it's a new thing, since we know that the network (and even some of the animators) were on Charles Schulz's neck for the "And that's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown" bit back in the 60's. Yet, they managed to do oddly biblical stories on Animaniacs. I...
I have to admit, while the cartoons of the 1970's were...kinda embarrassing (with certain remarkable exceptions), the 1970's was a big time of growth for live action children's programming. And that expanded into the 80's, of which I have to say...I miss Reading Rainbow. There actually were...
Better...the HECK...be.
Seriously. Chuck Lorre only keeps this on for spite. His other shows are much better, if over-exposed. But 2.5 Men should have ended the year before Charlie left.
Seems like a matter of taste thing. When people don't like a movie that's getting good word of mouth, it's a personal thing.
Anyway, if this Cracked article is anything to go by (though I still don't think Rescue Rangers the movie is ever happening- at best we'd get a Chip n' Dale film...
