Re: Oz, Nelson and Muppet evolution
The original report from the Jim Henson Company was that Snoop was cut for time. Kermit later cleared this up on the Kilborn show after some criticism in the press.
Oz really left the Muppets a long time ago in order to pursue work as a serious director...
He does need to follow the Muppets more closely. Muppets have always flirted with guest stars on their shows. Piggy did quite a bit of that too with Elton John and Roger Moore.
Also, Kermit has denied the fact that they were married numerous times. Geez, has this guy ever thought that the...
Re: Henson's name through the mud
Bah! I think this was well executed and a noble effort.
The "disturbing" cage dance was on screen for less than a second so I find no harm in it. The Muppet Show characters were always for an adult audience in my eyes. The Muppet Show's pilot episode was...
A Solid B from the Frogboy
Spoilers here, but then why would you enter this thread? LOL!
This was a great special. Okay, about twenty minutes could have been cut out and saved for a special edition DVD, but this has to be my favorite Muppet special to date. There is a difference in specials...
Cool Stuff!
I'm so jealous of you guys! The site was pretty interesting too. They were pretty harsh in their description of Miss Piggy though. LOL! "She can't sing, dance or act." Well, they haven't seen The Great Muppet Caper. She doesn't need a lousy duck pond! :D
I'm wondering why it isn't available on DVD. Maybe they had issues after the scene was cut and had to recompose the DVD version. Much easier to dub a tape. Maybe they are also working on extras for next year. It's just strange because all of NBC's made for tv movies have both DVD and VHS...
I think it's safe to say that all of Frank's characters have been replaced. There was no chemistry in the dubbed performances and I'm glad they've made the decision. Frank's more than earned the move on. It's nice to see his characters are in such good hands. The chemistry really seems to be...
I'm stoked and the appearance was great, but too brief. I feel the Muppets have been pasteurized in recent years, but with each appearance it is clear that they are back in true Muppet form!
I have to say that the Muppet Show characters are by far my faves, the Sesame float was the best in the parade. Having all of those characters together was a great achievement. The Big Bird float kind of looked droopy to me, and not a very good likeness, but the Kermit one was really...

I would have to say that is the best review I've read yet! It captures the essence of what the special is about rather than just the plot structure. Good job! Hope to be reading more stuff from you in the future. :)
Great review. I am not at all concerned about the Oz-replaced characters. In fact, I very much support it. The absence and dubbed performances of those characters really made the previous projects suffer. I think Eric is doing a spectacular job, though I do notice a difference. But, hey - if it...
The FAO Swartz in San Francisco has Kermits, Piggys, Rizzos and Fozzies too. They are all priced at $20. Very exciting. I know what my niece and nephew are gettin this year! They already have Kermit, Fozzie and Piggy.

As the resident Charlie Brown expert, could you clear something up? I thought there were to be no new specials after Shultz death. Does this new movie set the standard that there can be new specials if the stories come from the comic strips?
Oh, I wish Henson would hire me. Argh...
