I kind of feel the same way about Captain Pak of the R.O.K.: he seemed to have potential, despite appearing in only two episodes . . . then again, it seems like Pat Morita made some kind of appearance on just about 70s show you can imagine: M*A*S*H, THE ODD COUPLE, SANFORD AND SON, HAPPY DAYS. . . .
- I prefer hamburgers, but I don't mind a hot dog from time to time.
- Six of one, half a dozen of another.
- I guess so, I don't know who else isn't bothered by it.
- I like clocks too.
- What and who who?
- I like THE SANTA CLAUSE 2, but can't really tolerate the first or third movies.
- I...
VMX suffered from the same problem the 2015 series suffered from: bringing in outside writers. In VMX's case, they brought in Simpsons writers, and what we ended up with was a Muppet movie with dated pop culture references, and adult humor that was way too much for the Muppets.
A rather judgemental friend of mine always sides with the police anytime a cop wrongfully shoots and kills innocent black people, because they cops were always, "Just doing their job," and yet now that there's a reverse situation in which a black cop wrongfully shot and killed an innocent white...
Do you live under a rock? In addition to all that I just previously mentioned, what about the whoppin' 40 years book they put out as well? Or are you just notoriously hard to please?
It's been over ten years since the first three seasons of GREEN ACRES was released on DVD, and then MGM left us hanging.
But that's not what made me angry; what made is angry is apparently Shout! Factory is doing what Universal previously did with LEAVE IT TO BEAVER - instead releasing the...
True, and again, this is one of the reasons why Jim was able to get more done in the U.K. than in the D.S.: other countries still have respect for the creative and artistic aspect of show business.
Not quite:
ABC and CBS at least let Jim make pilots, and CBS was on board with TMS at one point, but then opted out the very next day.
But another thing to remember too, is that the Kroffts were making shows specifically for Saturday Morning, while Jim was trying to sell the networks on the...
Oh yes, and all because they had the Noggin logo on them (even though Noggin had pretty much become full-blown Nick Jr. by that point).
Then there was that period of time in like 2011-13 or so when Lionsgate was removing SST clips because they had Henson titles on DVD including the 20th...
That's exactly what my MORON LEAGUE shorts are an affectionate parody of, lol.
And yes, I did have the audacity to take a swipe at WMG since that was a period of time on YouTube where they were taking down videos over songs they didn't even own (including Muppet songs), though in hindsight, the...
Yup, and I even put my own Fisher-Price playset to similar use in one of my MORON LEAGUE shorts several years back:
But there's an interesting connection between SST and the movie DO THE RIGHT THING, aside from the fact that writer/director/co-star Spike Lee made that appearance on SST in the...
Sure, we even have a Krofft thread somewhere in the General Discussion board: check it out sometime.
I get where you're coming from though, in regards to the Muppets standing the test of time (really, Krofft shows are almost painfully dated) and having a lot of great merchandising and all, but...
They were more commercially successful in that they had several different shows going on all three of the major networks during the 70s and into the 80s, while Jim only had TMS, which went straight to syndication in America (which was considered television dumping grounds at the time).
In fact...
This is why a duo like Sid & Marty Krofft worked, and in fact, enjoyed far more commercial success than Jim ever did: Sid was the creative half, Marty was the business half, and while Sid's imagination would run wild with all those crazy shows they created, it was up to Marty to keep him in line...
True, but I don't live anywhere near NYC, I probably couldn't afford a special trip up there.
Nevertheless, based on Facebook pics I've seen, it looked like a great time had by all.
Sylinde, you and I sound like kindred spirits - you're speaking my mind, those are all my exact sentiments: summer is also my least favorite season because of the heat and humidity (and the bugs and the glaring sun); fall, to me, seems more like "the beginning of new life" to me than spring...
