I remember you! Bryon is your name, isn't it? I'm pretty sure you've been here longer than 5 years ago . . . I believe we were MySpace friends waaay back when MySpace used to still be a thing, and gosh, that was many ages and moons ago. :P
Nice to see another old face around here again! :excited:
I was recently listening to Doug's mini-review of TOY STORY 3, and it strikes me as intriguing that he disliked it mainly for the ending with Andy giving his toys away to Bonnie, on the grounds that he felt Andy's behavior in the way he was describing all of his toys with elaborate backstories...
One more thing has crossed my mind:
Who exactly suggested that Steve play Kermit in Jim's place? Steve said Jim was grooming him personally, the Henson family say Jane and Brian suggested him to Jim, and in I AM BIG BIRD Caroll and Debbie Spinney said they were the ones who suggested him to Jim.
Correct me if I'm wrong, and I'm sure Shane can probably confirm this, but didn't STREET GANG mention that an unspecified Muppet Performer was fired from SST for not really being a team player, and that said performer went on to create AVENUE Q in retaliation as a "take that" jab, while still...
My opinion is while Rick is a fantastic performer, and he actually did a pretty good job with Kermit's inflections and such, the voice, to me, sounded like what I would expect from a comedy show: an intentionally somewhat-off imitation.
THE TALK (Sara Gilbert and CBS's liberal rip-off of THE VIEW, which nobody watches anymore anyway) weighed in on this debocal today, even sharing quotes from both Cheryl and Brian Henson about all of this. They felt as though Steve probably should have some say in how he feels Kermit as a...
I hate to say this at this point, but my opinions of this entire situation are beginning to shift: more and more people within the Muppets coming forward and saying the same things about Steve, his behavior, and his conduct . . . it has to make you think there has to be some truth to this, and...
At least Stephen Colbert is having fun with all of this:
Even Seth Meyers managed to get off a hilarious zinger regarding Steve's termination over his business conduct: "Apparently, and this is shocking, he put his hand up a co-worker's butt. . . . Not Kermit's."
Jim never had the heart to fire people, even when others like David Lazer thought he should; he couldn't face them again afterward if he did. Apparently the only employee Jim actually fired himself was Diana Birkenfield, because she often drug him into heated arguments over things she felt were...
Not much, though. I know Frank still did SST "for fun," for the most part, but he otherwise didn't actually perform in movies like MTI or MFS - he just looped his characters' voices.
Somebody posted in this thread a while back that they wonder what Frank would have to say about all of this, after the Henson family had pointed out that he apparently was never impressed with Steve's Kermit either.
My thinking is perhaps Frank took it a little too personally like Cheryl...
I don't know, I just know the story goes there was a table reading for a script with the Muppet Performers, and Jerry saw there wasn't anything in thr script for him, which maddened him, so he got up, tossed the script in the trash, and walked out; later, Jim called him into his office and said...
This reminds me of the situation involving Jerry Nelson throwing away that script and walking out of a table reading prompting Jim to later call him into his office and tell him, "Don't you ever do that again."
"Suits" have a way of killing the artistic and creative aspect of entertainment.
Cheryl has her own share of exposure: she was interviewed for the A&E BIOGRAPHY special on SST, and she was also there when several old Muppets were donated to the Smithsonian.
But with that being said, I think I have to agree with the consensus that Lisa and Brian were a little more tactful...
