Star Butterfly Vs. The Forces of Evil Thread

It's Disney's long-standing corporate synergy model being used to positive effect: using actors from their live-action shows to voice characters on their animated programming. Pretty much the only time they messed up on this was with the cast of Jessie hijacking Ultimate Spider-Man on a...

Star Butterfly Vs. The Forces of Evil Thread

Also notable is that this is the first Disney animated series to be created by a woman since Pepper Ann.

    The Steven Universe thread

Man, was that a crazy episode last week. It was revealed that Steven can fuse, but most notably with humans. Is it wrong that I find "Stevonnie" kinda hot? I mean, their ages combined shouldn't make it feel squicky, but it's technically a transvestite, so that makes it squicky all over again.

Weekly Box Office and Film Discussion Thread

Well, Paddington has performed a modest $25 mil. at the box office in the quiet month of January, finishing at the #3 rank. It's another case of a film getting lucky thanks to no competition. It made a lot more money internationally, though, at over $120 mil...

Star Butterfly Vs. The Forces of Evil Thread

I'm really enjoying the series so far. Star Butterfly is so adorable with her unbridled and potentially deadly optimism, yet I also love how she can still hold her own in a fight. How fitting that she's voiced by the girl who played Sue Heck in The Middle, too. :)

The Furchester Hotel will be on Youtube November 14, 2014

I loved how emotive Elmo was in this episode, getting worried over "the hard part" about carrying the toast and getting all crestfallen over dropping it, among other moments. Ryan Dillon's really gotten a hang of the character. :)

    2015 Academy Awards Thread

Sorry about the necropost. I just thought that posting in that old thread would be more appropriate and less redundant than creating a whole new one, but I guess not. Anyway, I'd like to talk about the Razzies for a bit. Anyone else miffed that Seth MacFarlane was nominated for worst actor and...

The "Muppets on Robot Chicken" Thread

I loved the Dark Crystal rap "The Dark Cristal". It condenses the plot of the movie in the form of a stereotypical gangsta rap. Plus, you gotta love those singing Mystics. :)

    2015 Academy Awards Thread

People are complaining about the lack of diversity of the Oscar noms compared to last year, which is understandable, but most of the complaints feel like social justice warrior whining to me.

    Questions about anything

Now that I have no idea about. I guess they'd have to re-negotiate a deal.

    SpongeBob SquarePants

Like I said in the Peanuts thread, there's been a lot of 2D-ification of CGI in recent years whether with the squashy, stretchy movements of SpongeBob to the flat, slightly choppy look of The Peanuts Movie to the overall aesthetic of Disney's features. This sort of phenomenon could lead a big...

    SpongeBob SquarePants

Supposedly the Epic Mickey games had an engine that made sure Mickey's ears always appeared in profile no matter what angle he faced.

    2015 Academy Awards Thread

Here are the nominees that were just announced for the 87th annual Academy Awards coming up next month. http://oscar.go.com/nominees?cid=oscars_nominees_announcement_cadillac Kinda unfair that Selma is in there seeing as it got a limited Christmas release last year and a wide release this...

    Questions about anything

Later TV reruns of WKRP had just about all the songs replaced with soundalike versions, and scenes that had characters talking over them were redubbed by soundalike actors. You can thank the licensing deals that allowed the show to use the songs expiring. Nowadays, we can be thankful that...

    The 7D Thread

It turns out this show has also been airing on the Disney Junior block since December 26. It is kind of a better fit there, to be fair.

    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Thread

Anyone else thought that chimera in the latest episode looked like the Giant Claw?

How's this for a travesty of animation justice?

I remember watching The Mask and Ace Ventura series as a kid, but never D&D. In fact, I never knew it existed until years later online, so it must have disappeared fast. This is a travesty indeed.

    When you need to rant...

I don't see why more companies can't put ads in front of videos that contain their content so they can make money off of them, kinda like what Nintendo does, or at least I think they still do. It would certainly be a lot more cost effective than yanking them entirely. Anyway, I'm just glad...

    When you need to rant...

Mr. Enter's YT channel was terminated thanks to corporate brats abusing the Content ID system, namely Viacom. He's the guy who reviewed a lot of much-hated SpongeBob episodes released during the post-movie era, among other episodes of shows. :boo: Hopefully the counter-claim he sent will...

    The Rowdy Reviewer thread

Rowdy recently took a look at a New York public access show starring a superheroine and her dog, and oh boy does it look awful! All the innuendos make me think they were going for a bad softcore porno or something, and failing hard! www.manic-expression.com/tv-trash-the-adventures-of-electra-elf/
