Bear arrives on Disney+ The beloved series has been off the air for the past 15 years. Now all four seasons are finally available for a whole new generation.
Season 5 just premiered, and it seems like this one will be more about the Mane 6 exploring distant lands and spreading their message of friendship to others in need.
The two-parter was about the Mane 6 coming across a village where every pony has an equal sign for a cutie mark and a...
So the beloved '60s "Supermarionation" show Thunderbirds was given a reboot/remake, but instead of being all CGI, they opted for CGI characters against live-action model sets. They certainly spent a good amount of money on both. :)
On an unrelated note, I liked the new episodes of Harvey Beaks last week. It has a much quieter tone compared to C.H. Greenblatt's previous show Chowder (not that I hated that more rapid-fire, pun-heavy show), and I like the whole ensemble cast of kids playing off each other. Plus, the animation...
Wow. In the episode where Gadget gets sick and Penny is forced to take over on a mission, the self-destructing message (which Penny handled) doesn't blow up in Quimby's face for once! I also liked how bad@$$ she was in the same episode, which seems to be a trend in the new series overall.
On a...
Trying to get a piece of the pie that The Lego Movie served up, I presume. At least with that brand, there were several universes from different sets to work off of to create their own mishmash of a universe. The only Doh-verse I can think of is Doh Doh Island, and I remember that getting a...
Galactic Kids Next Door is more like a sequel to the original rather than a full-on reboot. And as Numbuh 4 said at the end, it's currently not planned for development even though it sounds really neat.
I enjoyed these little segments. They're cute, but not in an overly cloying way, and have enough wit to balance them out. I especially enjoyed Pepe singing "Mary Had a Little Ham" and Kermit almost getting squeezed to death by Animal. :)
At least they're being shown on basic cable, where...
"Say Uncle" was a downright hilarious crossover. It managed to expertly parody the elements of both SU and UG, and the characters from both shows played off each other really well. I especially loved Pearl's exaggerated facial expressions whenever she freaked out over Steven hanging out with...
I don't see this working, both creatively and financially. Christopher Robin as an adult comes across as a little unnerving-- along with a potentially uncanny valley-looking CGI Pooh-- and Disney did enough damage to the silly old bear by Flanderizing him and his friends into a preschool series...
I could see this show working on Tuesday or Wednesday nights on ABC, the same slots that benefit its single-camera comedies, though it could also fit nicely in its Sunday night slot. And if they refuse to pick it up, there's always Netflix, the same service that has worked well for Dreamworks...
I also like how there's a plainly obvious Canadian flag in the background of Chief Quimby's office. It implies that Metro City is actually located somewhere in Canada, at least in this continuity. :)
Looks like Home took home the #1 spot with Get Hard trailing distantly behind, while Insurgent has fallen to 3rd (good freaking riddance). Let's just hope Home makes enough next week to convince Dreamworks to not write this off as a failure...
I was a bit skeptical of this new series at first, but after seeing it firsthand, it's pretty good, and still miles above the damage Disney did. I like how it's set in the not-too-distant future with Gadget coming out of retirement and Penny (now a teen like in Gadgetinis, and voiced by Tara...
I really liked the Furchester Hotel references in the tea set video. And it was a bit of a lost opportunity for Cookie to not shout "Itadakimasu!" in the bento box vid, as he often did in Japanese dubs of SSt.
Fry: Oh, man, this is great! Hey, as long as you don't make me smell Uranus. (he laughs)
Leela: I don't get it.
Farnsworth: I'm sorry, Fry, but astronomers renamed Uranus in 2620 to end that stupid joke once and for all.
Fry: Oh. What's it called now?
Farnsworth: Urectum.
- Fry after smelling...
I wonder if the animated series characters would appear, especially considering Teen Titans Go is still (unfortunately) on the air.
I'm getting some bad vibes from the NBC flop Manimal here. The insane budget limitations forced the main character to transform into a hawk or a black panther...
That was fun to see. Matt Vogel's Count voice could use some more work, but most importantly, he got the excited-over-numbers personality down right. :batty:
