(looks down at floor) Hey, who scattered all these perfectly good bagels all over? Bagels are meant to be eaten plain or toasted or spread with cream cheese and preserves, or chopped...
Right on the money, Andy! And I commend you for the masterful use of groan-worthy puns.
Let's face it, our state and federal governments have a bad case of Chicken Little syndrome these days.
I did read it, and I did get a few grins out of it.
On the other hand...it is a sad day when such wonderful people/things like the Muppets are thought of as being subversive and dangerous. It's the McCarthy hearings all over again, mutter...mutter...
Storyteller: Hey, news lady, isn't it a...
Yeah, and at the church my family used to go to, in the playroom they had a whole series of Muppet storybooks. As I recall, they contained stories about the Muppets (both grown-ups and babies), the Fraggles and, I think, the Sesame gang. I remember sneaking in there when I was nine or ten and...
I've had "Listen to Your Heart," by Roxette, stuck in my head for most of the afternoon and evening. It was on the radio when I was out running errands around town this morning, so I guess that's what did it.
MN: (plunks down phone) I think we can rule out the customers. Our crook is more likely to be one of the people in there on official business.
Storyteller: Do you have the list, Nora?
Nora: (shuffles through backpack) Here's three of the names so far.
MN: Thank you, Nora. (adjusts glasses and...
If it's the group photo of Dave, Louise, Richard, Jerry, Jim and Frank in front of the red TMS curtain with their respective Muppets, I've seen that one before. In fact, I've got that photo as my desktop art.
Well done, Christy, and thanks for showing it, heralde!
MN: That's right, St. Lovelady and St. Nowhere are sister hospitals.
(door opens)
Nora: Thanks, Count. (comes slowly in)
Storyteller: And where in heaven's name have you been? Do you realize how late it is?
Nora: I'm sorry, Storyteller, but I had to help with a lot of bookkeeping at the...
MN: (hangs up phone) That was Fran's Fragrant Flowers. They've delivered that bouquet of freesias and lilies that I called in.
Storyteller: Is Nora still down at the shop?
MN: Yeah, she won't be in until later. Now, let's go over the notes. Accident took place not too long before closing time...
MN: (walks in reading newspaper aloud) Louise Farley, 44, was admitted to St. Nowhere's Hospital yesterday after falling off a ladder at the Coming Unbound bookshop at 33 West Henson Street. (pause) Authorities suspect that the ladder might not have been properly secured to the wall. (lowers...
Storyteller: Well, the mad scribbler here does have a fanfic in the hopper, but it doesn't involve Mrs. Farley taking a swan dive off a ladder.
MN: Yet.
Storyteller: What are you working on, anyway?
MN: It's still in the early stages, but it's about a museum theft and a supposedly cursed...
(at the dinner table)
MN: (glances at watch) Wonder where Nora is? She was due an hour ago.
Storyteller: Business must be brisk down at Coming Unbound...but I do hope she comes in; the chowder's getting cold.
(Door slams open, Nora comes running in, looking upset)
MN: You okay?
Nora: No...
Yeah, it is very good...but the ending's really haunting. That's all I'll say. I might get it when it comes out on DVD.
It's kind of interesting...I filed the review for the campus paper about a day before they started announcing the Oscar buzz.
Yeah, and it looks like he's into astronomy, because I remember seeing a telescope in there. Plus, Scooter does spend a lot of time among the (guest) stars.
Had the episode been taped five or ten years later, I think we would have seen a computer in there as well.
When I heard that there was...
Oh, yes. I do love "Six-String Orchestra;" just Scooter in his room, playing the guitar and dreaming of stardom, as many of us can identify with...and soon to be joined by the Electric Mayhem.
"Aw...someday I'll be a star."
You already are, dear Scooter...and so's the guy operating you down...
It means "RamaLamaDingDong" and "Six-String Orchestra"...which very clearly means: a double dose of Richard (or at least his voice and his right arm) in the spotlight.
Yeah, there's probably a perfectly good reason behind the bridesmaid story. And like Ed said, it'll be you up there ere long.
It's kind of strange (at least for me), when you realize that suddenly your friends (and other members of your generation) are now old enough to get married, and are...
