Yeah, what he said.
Half the time, what you find online is not the final cover art. Placeholders are very common when a publisher is soliciting because they need to be submitted 3-4 months before release.
There are some seriously ugly 'quickie' covers for King Arthur out there, but the real ones...
Well, I checked and no, that's not the final title font.
It's just a temp one being used for the solicitations. The actual issues will have a different (better) one...
Old English typography will be pretty much a given ;)
No. That's not an established Muppet character.
But Grace might find him familiar...
By the way, don't put too much stock in the plot blurbs you might read on sites like this. The plot has changed a LOT from when these were first written(by Boom! staff, not Grace nor myself) and sent out with...
So just to really put the speculation to bed here:
Muppet King Arthur will be written by Paul Benjamin (writer of the Monsters Inc. comic) and Patrick Storck.
And as we've already established, Dave Alvarez is on art duties.
I'm also doing a special cover for each issue, but Boom! will...
Yes, it's Camilla.
The casting pecking order goes 'Camilla first, THEN send in the random chickens"
And whether artists and writers get residuals or not would be confidential information and not something we would reveal publically.
Nope. Takes time to do 4 issues of comic (8 in my case, if you include Monsters Inc.) from pencils to full colour.
Yeah, no, sorry, can't say ;)
I WILL be doing more Muppet work, that much is certain.
But until Boom! formally announces anything, I can't give hints, sorry.
That was precisely Boom!'s reasoning behind the more newsprinty paper-stock - to get a more traditional 'comic' feel.
me, I still prefer the more modern glossy stock - it replicates colour better, but whatever. As long as the final thing is legible ;)

YAYNESS, they love it! Everyone line up for high-five run...
Yeah, sleep and social life, who needs it? ;p
Besides, drawing every single Muppet comic would be greedy!
But I definitely WILL be drawing other Muppet stuff next year.
Sam is fun to draw because he's so deadpan. Not to mention, Grace has nailed his attitude perfectly.
TESTIFY!
Seriously. It's DISNEY. They do their thing and they do it bloody well - Disney could sell snow to eskimos. Muppet fans are lucky that Disney are giving them this much attention in terms of new material. They could be content to just shove some Kermit tees into Disney Stores and leave...
Just for the record, because some people have been asking - the retail variant covers (the ones Dave Alvarez and I have been doing) are NOT in the book.
Neither the softcover nor the hardcover.
I'm a little disappointed, but I'll be pestering them to add them to subsequent printings.
First of all, anyone thinking this presentation would be anything other than Disney massively back-patting itself doesn't know much about the Walt Disney Company.
It was a massive ad spiel for everything the Muppets would be doing, so there was no WAY we would get any dirt on the Muppeteers...
I appreciate the request, but I can't do commissions right now. All the Boom! comic work has me absolutely flat out.
I only take commissions during those awkward 'between big jobs' periods.
So, a bit of an update on D23 stuff.
Disney have a bit of a weird layout in terms of buying and selling on the expo floor. We cannot actually sell the comics at the main Boom! booth (at the Disney Consumer Products area), but apparently Boom's comics WILL be purchasable elsewhere at the Expo, so...
Piggy throws herself at Kermit to this day and he just deals with it as best he can. I think if he actually responded to Piggy's advances his very LIFE would be in danger from her enthusiastic joy and pig-passion. So it could very well be that Kermit's just thinking of his own longevity when he...
Oh, the covers for 4 are up now?
Cool, I'll post mine to dA later today.
I NEVER know when these things get released, so thanks for the heads-up ;)
I was totally expecting my editor to reject my cover idea as being too sad, but they said DO IT! Rip their hearts out, whoooooo!
