Any chance someone would have the clip from the animated "Or" segment? Is was a little song where a cowboy was standing before a jury for putting "or" everywhere around town. The song goes on to explain (in very School House Rock fashion) about how "or" is used. Then in the end the cowboy...
Yeah, from the interview I read with Frank recently, I wouldn't count in him doing any fill-in spots with any of his old characters anytime soon if ever again. I mean, never say never, but the interview had a real sense of finality to it, and he seemed so dismissive about his past association...
I loved The Witches. Obviously the Jim Henson connection was solid, but I'm also a big fan of Roald Dahl, and the darkness to the story suited my taste to a T. I hear, though, that Guillermo del Toro is remaking Witches, which kinda disappoints me. I loved his directorial work on Hellboy and the...
I wonder if these were the same hotdog puppets the Henson company used in the short lived Saturday morning show, "Kid City" which ran in the mid 90's on ABC. Actually, I think that's what it was called. It was something "City." Anyway, they had these little bits where we'd see the life of a...
I'd asked this, like, forever ago, and figured it might be a good time to ask again if anyone has a link to the old, old Ernie's Barbershop clip or clips (since there was about three or four of them telling the story). I can't find it anywhere, though somehow Muppetwiki got their hands on a...
Anyone have any info as to how I could reach him? I've been a cartoonist for many years now, and watching the Fraggle Rock season 1 bonus features and seeing his gorgeous art in the original proposal for the show reminded me how greatly his art influenced my own work. Hence, I'd love to get...
That's good enough for me! My concern was that it was going to be like it was after Walt Disney died, where everything was "Walt Disney Presents..." as if he just created everything from "The Aristocats" to "Home on the Range", regardless of his death, just because the studio slapped his name on...
I don't know if this has been posted yet, and if so, please disregard it with my apologies for unintentionally re-posting, but I came across this interview with Frank on aintitcoolnews.com, and it's an eye opener, from his view of the years he spent with the Muppets, to confirmation about a...
Okay, I'll play the cynic here. Much as the thought of a new Jim Henson-related product sounds great, what exactly makes this a Jim Henson product, other than his name was slapped on the box? Did he design these creatures prior to his passing? Granted, they bear a resemblance to the Jim-style of...
Well, my most prized store bought Muppet possession is the book "Jim Henson: The Works," which no Muppet fan should be without. But my most prized Muppet memento is a series of three caricatures I drew of Jerry Nelson, Dave Goelz and Bill Barretta, which they were all kind enough to autograph.
They were probably reprints of either Charlton Comics, a company out of Connecticut who published HB comics in the early to mid 70's, or Marvel, who did a few in the mid to late 70's like Laff A Lympics and Blue Falcon and Dynomutt.
I know what you mean by the writing. But ironically, a lot...
My mistake. I meant to imply that Peanuts used it before Fraggle Rock, rather than Schulz having created the phrase. Charles Schulz was pretty well read, so it makes sense that he'd reference older literature in his comics.
Actually, it's in reference to The Incredible Shrinking Man, a sci fi movie from the 50's that The Incredible Shrinking Woman was parodying in 1981 (I actually prefer the Woman. Sydney the gorilla was the best!).
Actually, Peanuts, which first hit newspapers in 1949 as Li'l Folks to be renamed and retooled as Peanuts a year later, originated the "Dark and Stormy Night" thing in the early 60's.
In the 50's, when Harvey first started publishing, they were possibly the best game in town as far as publishers went. After the comics code authority swooped in and squashed EC Comics and effectively castrated the industry, a lot of the biggest and best talent comics had to offer made their way...
I had a subscription to the Star line of Muppet Babies comics, I collected Fraggle Rock comics, and I owned both The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth Marvel Super Specials, which were magazine size and quality comic book adaptations of the films. Both a Muppet and comic book nerd for life!
I didn't check to see if this had been mentioned yet, but I have a friend who works down at Disney World in Florida, and he says that while they don't have the Bunsen and Beaker mobile attraction yet, when they do get it, there's talk of having the device be remote controlled all the way from...
The one question I put up for debate a couple years ago was who wore the green collar first, Jim Henson's Kermit or Syd and Marty Krofft's H.R. Punfnstuf. Obviously I side with Jim, but my research shows that Kermit first wore the collar in 1969 on Sesame Street, the same year Puf premiered on...
