    Traditional Animation: The Return

I know, and it's pathetic. The subsequent sequels are everything the first movie was trying NOT to be. Sigh....

This could change the way we design puppets

This is slightly off topic, but can anyone tell me who the female host on this clip is? She looks very familiar but I can't quite place her.

    Traditional Animation: The Return

You should check out the website of Chris Sanders' website. He's doing an online comic right now that's ever so cool, plus he's currently directing a movie for Dreamworks. Should be some cool stuff a'comin'!

Power of the Dark Crystal Gets New Writer & Director

I'm with you. The Dark Crystal doesn't really lend itself to a sequel, though possibly a spin off story revolving around some other denzien of that world. Regardless, I'm sure I'll watch if the day does come when they sort this mess out and figure out what they're going to do.

    Traditional Animation: The Return

I felt like Lilo and Stitch broke from the mold, but ultimately Disney wasn't comfortable with that, so their films went back to stale formula. The most revolutionary 2D animation being done primarily comes from Europe and Canada, with the exception of American animator Bill Plympton, who's a...

Power of the Dark Crystal Gets New Writer & Director

I totally agree. And the Manga interpretations of Henson's fantasy films will never be as good as the source material.

Power of the Dark Crystal Gets New Writer & Director

I've checked some other resources, and I haven't found any other confirmation that Tarkovsky has been let go yet, so I suppose that no news is good news.

Power of the Dark Crystal Gets New Writer & Director

This is kinda driving me nuts. The Henson's have been promising us this movie for a few years now, they waved some photos and designs in our faces to get us excited, then they leave us hanging. And now this news. of course, IMDB is notorious for being the least reliable source of entertainment...

    Traditional Animation: The Return

I did check out the other ones, and they seemed pretty cool, too. But the American Mayhem one seemed like the freshest concept. I like the stylized takes on the band's designs. Have you ever see the old Muppet comic strip from the 80's written and drawn by Guy and Brad Gilchrist? That was a nice...

Anybody here a fan of John Goodman?

I love John Goodman! My favorite roles are those he plays in Cohen Brothers movies, like Barton Fink, Raising Arizona, and O Brother, Where Art Thou? The man's just brilliant. I do wish he could get his weight down to a healthier size so that a couple years down the road we won't be saying...

    Traditional Animation: The Return

Okay, I just checked out the artwork and idea behind American Mayhem, and I'm of a mind that thinks it should have been made a reality, and the fact that it wasn't is the biggest American tragedy since the career assassination of Pee-Wee Herman. The premise was brilliant, and it was such a great...

I'm gonna have to look for images from this proposed show. I dig the design ethic behind it.

    Traditional Animation: The Return

First off, I LOVE your icon! Did you draw it? That's a great Scooter! Second up, I'm excited about Disney returning to it's 2-D animated musical fairytale roots, too! I'm a little dismayed that they're already making changes to the story because of perceived racial matters (seriously, The...

If you buy one of those styrofoam coolers and cut it up that should work. Those were built to float, if I'm not mistaken.

    The Dark Crystal vs. Labyrinth

The one thing I've noticed is how so much of Labyrinth looks like it's shot on a soundstage, whereas Crystal looks like it was shot in actual outdoor locations (though it too was largely shot on soundstages). Crystal just looks more lush, whereas Labyrinth looks more claustrophobic and almost...

And let us not forget "One To Grow On" where 80's NBC stars like Dwight Schulz, Michael J. Fox and Nancy McKeon taught us the in's and outs of good manners, playing fair and outing potential child abusers!

I know! I tried to convince cartoonist Greg Evans that his comic strip Luann would make a great TV cartoon, but he says the networks just aren't as interested in such things as they were in the 70's and 80's. Sigh....

    Fraggle Rock Animated

I honestly thought it was of a much lower quality than the original Fraggle Rock, and not even as well thought out or animated as Muppet Babies. For the most part they used the same songs from the original TV series and wrote new stories around them using an all new cast that sounded nothing...
