    Favorite cheesy commercial actors

Part of the fun of commercials are all the bad or overdoing-it actors that sometimes get their 15 minutes of fame. Those wonderful "where's the beef" and "I've fallen and can't get up" moments. What are some of your faves? Right now i'm partial to the lady in the Colonial Penn commercials -...

Interesting tidbit, any truth to it?

Hee hee. Sometimes i go into Daffy Duck mode and think about how everyone would look better with a moustache. My beard comes in handy. Not hiding acne scars but i look very boyish when i'm clean-shavin so if i ever start going through a depression where i wish i looked younger, just a quick...

Can Sesame Street go to Congress?

I used to be registered as a Republican for that purpose - so in the primaries i could vote for the "saner" ones than the hard right nutjobs. Then AZ changed its primary voting rules to open primaries and then changed to independant.

Interesting tidbit, any truth to it?

I think that is credible as in has been mentioned in biographies as opposed to from some obscure non-Henson-related website though i can't offhand remember all the various places i've read it.

Has Anyone Thought of Ernie as a Clown?

Come to think of it, Lew Zealand pretty much looks like as if Ernie *did* grow up to become a clown.

Can Sesame Street go to Congress?

And once enough people feel that way, then the corporatists (whatever side they may fall on) have indeed won. No matter what happens, never forget or pass on your power to vote. Our country still is a democracy underneath it all and as long as people remember that, then we haven't surrendered...

Has Anyone Thought of Ernie as a Clown?

Yep! In between his personality and his natural "clown nose", the similarities between Ernie and a clown weren't lost on me - sometimes i even figured that's what he would be when he grew up! ...and hey, he even "honked" his nose at the end of the Four People Fooled skecth (even though he...

MUPPET CENTRAL FORUM AWARDS #7 (Take Two)

Well ACTUALLY, RedP, we made the decision to rename them The Pierre's and they all need to have the new name put on the awards as well as given a Kermit-green tint... (just kidding of course) BUT...what i'm NOT kidding about is that i can now confirm that the awards ceremony will be on the...

Can Sesame Street go to Congress?

Oh absolutely, both sides have double standards and make mistakes. However the point Drtooth is making is that because the overwhelming vast majority of news media is corporate owned and in the hands of right-wing interests (who still actually try to perpetuate the myth of a "liberal media")...

Muppet Babies - 20+ years later

I have no doubt that MB will see a dvd release someday - but more in the long term. With the movie/relaunch taking place at the end of the year, i really don't see an official MB release until 2013 at the earliest. MB is a bit of an explosive, needs to be handled with care and only used when...

The 'What Song Are You Currently Listening To?' Thread

(warning: long post below and one that's probably a lot more serious and a "downer" than what people usually expect from this thread) Wrong by Depeche Mode You ever come across a song that just so elequently captures musically and lyrically everything about you, your life, your feelings...

    Little things we've noticed

The concept of "do you mind?' is so confusing to a kid. I had the hardest time understanding it when i was Sesame age. It almost seemed like a trick question (actually, in adulthood it does do). "No" is a positive answer, and "yes" allows the asker of the question to assume the person being...

    Modern Classics

"Seconding" Feist's 1234, What I Am, Preschool Musical and I Love My Hair. All these have that classic feel and shows SST at its best. Some new choices no one's mentioned yet: -Chris O'Donnell: Activate - seems pulled right out of the good ol' days -Meal Or No Meal - writing, direction...

Muppet Babies - 20+ years later

I think it's a dog/papertraining thing. (For that matter i always wondered if "mama dada poopoop chihuahua" was the other babies saying it was time for Rowlf's diaper change. Actually Scooter, Skeeter, and especially Gonzo all look like they're packing diapers underneath their clothes.
