LOL, no, when I said I'm done, I didn't mean I gave up. I mean I have finished creating every single category's award. Can't wait to slap some names on them. <3

First round of voting ends this upcoming Saturday

Just a reminder that the deadline for the nomination round of voting is this upcoming Saturday, March 12. (Meaning that Sat is the last day ballots will be accepted.)

Thanks so much to everyone who's voted so far. As it stands right now, the nominations lists are looking good. There's only two awards that right now only have one nominee. One of which is a unanimous decision by all who voted for it and the other is due to one vote having been placed in that category (it's one of the brand new recently added ones)

Which brings me to my next point - the five newly added categories do especially need votes.

I have a very effective table chart set up to keep track of not only the votes themselves but also where they came from so it's not at all difficult for me to cross-reference the data from those who send in multiple ballots. So don't be afraid of splitting your votes up among seperate emails. It doesn't create any kind of headache on my end or create any extra work for me at all whether someone gets all their votes in on one email or five seperate ones so go for it. Heck, i'm still making some last minute decisions and additions to categories i've left blank so far.

Part of what i see as my responsibilty is veryifying each vote - not only whether the nomination is elligable but also making sure that all voters' votes are going to who they intend them to go to (such as in cases where the voter didn't get the nominee's name 100% correct) and that when the final list is compiled that i have everyone's names spelled, capatalized, and punctuated correctly in regards to how their profile is actually set up. What that means is during that verification process, i've being taken on a quasi guided tour of the best of 2010 and doing so brings back some great memories. I already know some categories where i'll end up voting for something different than what i had originally nominated!

Yes, more votes are needed (especially in the five new categories) but the awards are NOT in any danger of being cancelled due to lack of votes or participation. All the nominations are certainly worthy and great choices...the extra votes coming in this final week will just help them be even stronger and more varied.

The deadline for nomination voting is Sat 3/12 and the deadline for final voting will be Sat 3/26. These dates will not change. The date for the award ceremony is still forthcoming and is only being slightly delayed only so as to err on the side of caution to make sure those essential to the ceremony's success will indeed be able to be there.
The moment i've got the needed confirmation, the date will be announced.

Votes should be emailed to mcforumvotingbooth@hotmail.com

There's only two awards that right now only have one nominee. One of which is a unanimous decision by all who voted for it and the other is due to one vote having been placed in that category (it's one of the brand new recently added ones)
Quick update. Aside from the newly added categories, all the categories now have at least two nominations so they'll all be represented in the second round of voting.

Now, in regards to the newly added categories. I finally got all caught up verifying all the nominations received so far's eligibility and i spoke too soon earlier. Turns out two of the five newly added categories only have one nomination primarily due to shortage of votes (one of the nominees in one of those categories turned out to not be eligable due to not having posted anything during 2010 but would be eligible for next year's awards).

Now personally speaking, i have no qualms about handing over an award to someone who receives one vote since the person who did vote felt they were fully worthy and that's why they cast their vote in the first place. If no one else submits a vote, that's on them and doesn't in any way take away from the single vote the sole nominee received - it's a full exercise in "one vote makes a difference". Whether someone runs unopposed due to a unanimous decision among 20 voters or a single vote doesn't ultimately make a difference to me and i hope everyone else will agree.

Having said that though, i do believe the awards are stronger and more fun when a variety of people are chosen for nominations and every category has the ability to go on to a final choice between two or more people. Let me clear...all the nominees and winners are fully deserving regardless of how low or heavy the turnout. This is because everyone who does cast a vote does so seriously and earnestly. But the more people who throw their hats in the ring and offers their choices as to who they feel should be recognized allows for more variety and a stronger choice in the end. The newer categories really need votes and i hope the populace of the forum comes through in the final days of voting and lets their voices and opinions be heard and counted.

The more people who take part, the stronger the awards are and more accurately represent the choices of the members at large. I understand and fully respect everyone who feels they don't know enough about a particular category to make a choice and abstains rather than submit what they feel is too uninformed a vote. Or those that have a harder time making a choice among the huge member pool at large for the nominations than having a smaller choice of specific people to choose between for final voting. There's nothing at all wrong with that and shows that people take their votes seriously. But i also know there's lots more people that do have the knowledge of and admiration for their fellow members and their talents and strengths that are holding back and i really encourage everyone to get their votes in as the Saturday deadline approches.

I remember back when I won Best MC Couple with Kiki and Favourite Newcomer in the same year. Those were the days.
Amen. x3 I'll try to remember to vote, though I've been a slacker on this thing.

I have managed to add a bunch of votes. There were a few things I still don't quite know what to pick (or whom to pick), but as the rest of my week is most likely going to revolve around some remodeling projects, I will try to pick up the last few categories later, if I can, though I can't guarantee anything.

And dwmckim pointed out I messed up an award, so it's fixed now -- so SUPERSERIOUS, all the awards are finalized and just waiting for names to put on them, LOL. I swear to God THIS time they're all done. :stick_out_tongue:

Well ACTUALLY, RedP, we made the decision to rename them The Pierre's and they all need to have the new name put on the awards as well as given a Kermit-green tint...

(just kidding of course)

BUT...what i'm NOT kidding about is that i can now confirm that the awards ceremony will be on the very Muppety date of Friday April 1st! What better day to celebrate everything Muppet and break out the whoopie cushions and the rubber chickens? Rest assured, despite the connotations of the date, all the awards themselves will of course be real (unless one happens to end up going to Maria Conchita Alonzo - then you'll probably know something's up with that, but i digress!)

So join our co-hosts dwayne1115 and Aaron on friday, April 1st for the handing out of the awards. Like every year, there will be an awards ceremony thread plus afterwards the list will be added to the Award Winners thread for quick at-a-glance reference.

Also speaking of dates, the deadline for the nominations round of voting is this Saturday. The nominations list will be posted on Sunday (or early Monday if something prevents them from being posted super-timely) with the winners round of voting ending Sat March 26.
