Are there Season 1 shows floating around?

I remember what a racket tape trading was, when Noggin episodes were the hot commodity. It still blows my mind, back around 1999-2001, living not more than 20 miles outside New York City, and my cable company wouldn't carry Noggin. However, the lucky folks in Greater Metro Bedsore, Kentucky (all...

    What are you Thankful For?

Back in August, due to a freak accident, I lost sight in my right eye. Two eye surgeries later, still can't see. But every so often I get flashes of vision. For about ten seconds, I was able to see my hands in front of my face. The vision was very blurry and dark, but something was there...

Are there Season 1 shows floating around?

It still amazes me how far we've come in being able to see vintage Sesame clips. Before youtube, iTunes, the Old School DVD sets, Sprout, Noggin, before ANY of this existed, the only place to find old Sesame/Muppet artifacts was the Paley Center in New York City (formerly the Museum of...

Are there Season 1 shows floating around?

It's so neat seeing liitle extraneous stuff, like holding up the slate between takes (Noisy Bedroom, etc.), seeing Jim and Frank's heads in shots (many later cropped), even Ernie's arm dangling down in the skit with the 4-eyed Beautiful Day. You didn't find gems, you dug up a whole goldmine!

What is Your Race and Religion?

I agree. This is one of the best threads you could've started, where everybody can share, everybody can feel their contribution is equal, and look how much we've learned about others. And if it does get bumped, it's because somebody has something valid to add.

    What are you Thankful For?

Last night my wife and her friend were in a car accident. My wife was on the passenger side and the car got T-boned, my wife taking the brunt of the impact. Only by God's grace, she was able to walk away with only a few bruises. Praise God.

    Commercial rant time...

This one is way overdue. The State Farm ad with the talking mime AND the talking baby. FREAKY!!!!! 'Nuff said already.

    Hanna-Barbera

I think it's hysterical, my generation certainly remembers the Flintstones for cereal and vitamins, but my parents' generation remembers them for Winston cigarettes (the show's original primetime sponsor). Fred and Barney turning their lungs black. Back when cigarettes were 35 cents a pack.

    Commercial rant time...

Another dysfunctional couple- the guy takes all the marshmallows out of a box of Lucky Charms, leaving the girl with the crusty oats. Way to go, dude. She'll get even, though, telling him she has a "headache"every night for the next two weeks.

    Commercial rant time...

I've never bought into the "love = big shiny rock" belief either. And when the couple break up (half the marriages today end within five years), the big shiny rock is the first thing the guy wants back.

Christmas: Are they shoving it down our throats too early?

I'm not the hugest fan of peppermint either (can't stand those Starlite mints), but I love those After Eight dinner mints. Expensive as anything, but once a year, live a little.

Christmas: Are they shoving it down our throats too early?

One notable exception, at this time of year we get to see Terry's chocolate oranges. Orange-infused chocolate is a nice alternative to peppermint overkill. It's nice the candy companies make candy canes in other fruity flavors besides peppermint. But I did a double take when I saw Crayola-brand...

Are there Season 1 shows floating around?

Guy Smiley in the Brand X skit doesn't sound nasal enough to be Caroll, but possibly John Lovelady (Ernie's right hand in these early days).

Are there Season 1 shows floating around?

In so many of these Season One skits with Ernie, you can see quite a bit of Jim's arm. Next season onward, he seemed to take more care keeping his arm out of shot.

Are there Season 1 shows floating around?

I think it's hysterical. When Loretta Long auditioned for Susan, the producers were expecting a Judy Collins/Singing Nun-type host. Loretta didn't think she could fit the bill, but blew them away with a rousing rendition of "I'm A Little Teapot", and the gig was hers. But it's rare to get...

Are there Season 1 shows floating around?

Haven't seen this since who knows when, either. Thank you, hooperfan, for all you're sharing with us. I know you have quite a few episodes you're combing through, but if you happen to come across these, you would make me incredibly happy: The Boy, the Girl, and the Jellybeans Up, Up, and...

Jazz song in Triangle and Square Cartoon

For years some people on this board insisted it was "Take Five" by Dave Brubeck, and I kept saying no, it's not. thanks for setting the record (do people still play records?) straight.
