Sure. Copyright lapses a certain number of years after the author's death. It used to be less than 20 years. Currently it's somewhere between 70-90. And every few years, Hollywood or the music industry pays Congress to have another 20 years or so stuck on the term...
Ok, four of the sketches you list can be found in "Muppet Moments". Of the others, "Mahna Mahna" is in "The Muppet Revue", and "Time In A Bottle" I can't find - it may be on one of the tapes I don't have.
That was just an example of a current rights issue. There are many different types of rights when it comes to creative works. There is nothing to stop you recording your own cover version of a song; it's polite to ask permission, but the author of the original can't actually stop you. What...
In order:
1. "The Muppet Show", Edgar Bergen
2. "The Muppet Show", Rich Little (or its original appearance on an Ed Sullivan show)
3. "The Muppet Show", can't remember which one
4. "The Muppet Show", Shields & Yarnell

Now, the question is *which* shows were aired in the second season...?
No idea what - if anything - is being planned in the US.

They've been "proposing" it for quite some time now! I wouldn't hold your breath...
The "30 Years" release is the UK DVD "The Very Best of The Muppet Show, Vol 3", due for release (we hope) next month. "A Celebration of 30 Years" is slated to be included as an extra on the disc.
Short answer: no, they can't.
A region-free player will not solve the problem. You will also require one that is capable of handling PAL discs. These are not too common in the US, as there's very little demand for them.
