This week I revisited a Muppet character that made me nervous as a kid. She appeared on one ep. of TMS, an elderly wrestler named Granny the Gouger. Everything about her scared me! I only felt better when Miss Piggy came along and KO'd her for injuring Kermit in the wrestling match.
There was...
For those of you living in Toronto or in the areas surrounding the GTA, here are the correct listings for The Muppet Show episodes airing on CTS Toronto/Burlington (Cable 9/Channel 36) for this week (subject to change). The listings I posted here earlier were incorrect. I apologize for the...

I believe it's the 1992 Christmas special that aired on CBS. Bob Newhart was the main host, and it featured other guests including the Muppets. Vintage Ed Sullivan clips were also shown. Kermit and Miss Piggy open the show before the opening credits roll. They reappear later with Gonzo, Rizzo...
I must've bought an American copy of the DVD because it's got the PG rating. It's strange because I bought it in a Toronto video store! I bought it the same time as the Special Edition of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (it's got the Canadian PG rating btw).
N.B. The fan wearing the...
Yesterday I bought the Muppet Christmas DVD, and judging from the limited time I spent looking at it yesterday it seems OK to me. I did look at the so-called butchered cutaway to the credits at the end, and while this is unfortunate it's not nearly as bad as the cuts made to the Family Christmas...
Yes, I did notice after seeing it on tape that his eye contact with Kermit was a bit off. I didn't know he appeared in a SS book. I was 4 yrs old when he died, so this book must've appeared earlier in the '70s. Recently I saw him in "The Producers" and thought he was brilliant! I also recall...
Interesting quote from Elton John you posted. I once saw Elton say on a TV special that he enjoyed being on TMS, and it showed. His ep. is still regarded as one of the best in the series by many fans (myself included).
As for Zero Mostel, maybe he was just so desperate to connect with...
Zero Mostel
Last night the TMS episode with Zero Mostel aired here, and now that I've watched it with older eyes I must admit that it wasn't as great as I thought it was. Most of the skits were OK, but I could see that Mostel didn't look entirely comfortable interacting with the characters. He...
Mummenschanz
Last night I saw the TMS ep. w/ Mummenschanz, and it made me change my view of them. Last month I wrote in the worst TMS guests thread that I thought that they were a "boring" act. But when I watched them again for the first time in over a decade, I realized that they were pretty...
No, I just have the video re-release from 1994. I'm thinking of writing a letter to the JHC to inquire if there are any plans to release it (+ other specials) on DVD. Wish I could help you further. Sorry about that.

Hey, thanks for filling all of us in on Kimmel's show last night (it was after midnight here). I only watched the first 20 minutes before falling asleep. I would've taped it if the Donald O'Connor biography hadn't aired on A&E. I'll be taping the show the rest of the week though. It was cool to...
I ordered it through Amazon.com Saturday night for $10.99 US (about $20 CDN). I'm glad that most of the reactions have been positive. I can't wait to watch it! Amazon said it should arrive sometime betweeen Oct. 3-8.
That's OK, I'll just order it from Amazon because it turns out there are other DVDs I want to buy that don't appear to be available here. I've looked at the major record stores downtown w/o success.
Looks like I may have to order it through Amazon after all. There aren't any Cinema 1 stores in Toronto. However I managed to find another Ed Sullivan DVD at Bay St. Video, a store that boasts itself as having "Toronto's biggest DVD collection." This DVD contains the edited version of a Kermit...
It is Kermit before he became rechristened as a "frog." He was beginning to mutate around that time though, because he was starting to look greener during this period.
Where did you buy it? Ed Sullivan isn't part of my era either, but I became a "late fan" after watching the TV specials and clip trip shows in the '90s. I even saw the Christmas special Bob Newhart hosted that featured the Muppets as part of the guest list. I live in downtown Toronto, btw, so I...
