No, really - I'm looking for the Ernie and Bert version that's been playing on SS this season. A friend of mine has it on a freebie tape she got from somewhere, but I can't seem to find THAT version anywhere; there are several other versions that prominently feature Bob, but which don't have...
Where, Oh, Where has My Sesame Street gone?
Now I'm just afraid I'm going to miss the new season; we just can't bring ourselves to watch re-runs anymore. Any idea when it's coming, anyone?
And what about Beverly Sills tap-dancing? Just rented "Fozzie's Scrapbook" from our library, and the guest star number's in there. What a great episode that was! I remember it from when I was a kid; our whole family couldn't stay on the chairs!
What about "Pull My String," that great number with the marionette? (being a former string-puller myself)
My ultimate favorite Muppet song, though, is "Lime In Da Coconut," which is fortunately out there on a few CDs.
I've been renting the Time-Life series from our local library until I stop wafflilng about whether to get DVD or VHS, and haven't seen them all yet.
The episode I most hope to see is the one where Statler and Waldorf take over the theatre. The opening number goes "Get Ten Terrific Girls, buy...
It's still out there!
For those of you who try to buy songs they've downloaded so that Sesame Workshop gets the "portion of the proceeds", "If I Were" is included in the album "Dreamytime Songs," which is still in print and a few copies are available new on Amazon, and probably other retailers.
I could be wrong, but I think it's Richard's Elmo on the "One Fine Face" clip with Ernie. The voice is slightly different, as is the puppet - he started out a little scruffier looking.
Besides, it's a great way to introduce kids to technology, and remind adults that you don't have to be rich to access the internet.
Remember, this season, how Oscar found out about "Yuckyworld," and how Big Bird found out about birds of Paraguay? Or what about Baby Bear's party invitations...
It's true that Elmo's been around for longer than Kevin Clash. I remember when he was sort of a "baby" SuperGrover; he came out during the "baby" (muppets, flintstones, what have you) craze, which I never understood - arent Muppets childlike enough? I really did hate him then - now, not so...
I think Matt Vogel does a terrific job as Big Bird! The voice is so close it doesn't bother me - and more importantly, I think he's got the essence of the character down.
Though, while I'm passing out accolades, I really want to thank Eric Jacobson for his renditions of Frank Oz...
Ouch!
I agree wholeheartedly about the JTE revamp - I didn't MIND the segments, as long as they included the clips. I hope fervently that they didn't archive all the non-letter and number clips!
Anyway, thank you SO much for the info!
So anybody know when the first new episode will air...
Tech problem
OK, our local library had a copy of "A Sesame Street Celebration," which I'd love to share, since it's out of print, only I couldn't copy it in any format except .wma. I downloaded a converter, but for some reason the last five songs won't convert. Any suggestions?
OK, back to topic - it's January!!!
Any more word on when season 34 will begin? Is there anywhere where this type of information is posted - couldn't find it on the SS website.
Is somebody doing a psych 101 paper?
Funny how this topic keeps coming up one way and another.
Let's remember - Sesame Street was DESIGNED for adults to watch - one of the primary ideas behind the show was to make it entertaining to both adults and children so they would WATCH TOGETHER...
I suppose I got teased a lot for my love of the muppets in general, but people stopped after I started making a living puppeteering, and was laughing all the way to the bank (admittedly, with a light load.) I'm sure there are Muppeteers out there who have a similar story (but hopefully bigger...
Elizabeth
Elizabeth shows up on the Elmo's World in an email about pets with Murray Sparkles. She's a green AM, has brown hair in two braids and a purple nose, wears a white collared blouse and a navy/white checkered smock. She has a distinct Bronx accent with a Jewish flavor.
I've heard how many of you dislike the following: Elmo's World, Monster Clubhouse, Journey to Ernie, etc. but not a lot of specifics on what to do to improve them; it occurred to me that we could probably offer better information about what works and doesn't. So, pick your biggest pet peeve...
