YouTube (dumb name - where I live, calling someone a "tube" is rather offensive) is a lawsuit waiting to happen, I'm afraid.
Well, if the company's name has changed, then it's no longer "(C) Henson Associates", is it? Simply put, the closing shot has changed each time the name of the rights-holder needed to be updated.
Cheers, I figured you'd add these :-)
Yeah, this one's something of a mystery! AFAIK it first showed up in the early 90s, although it's possible that it was used for the mid-80s changes as well.
Probably just down to when the show was completed. Season Four includes '78, '79 and '80...
There are two different edits of each show: the domestic (first-run airings in the UK) and the foreign (originally just non-UK broadcasts). The differences between the two are:
Domestic: one commercial break, in the middle; end-credits include the guest-star and run up the left side of the...
The last one broadcast in the US appears to have been Melissa Manchester, on 8 June 1981. The last one aired in the UK was Shirley Bassey, on 15 March. Gene Kelly aired on January 4 in the UK, and February 28 in the US. Roger Moore, on the other hand, opened the fifth season in the UK.
(To...
I don't know, to be honest! Bailey taped about a month after K&C, but since the song doesn't involve the guests, it could of course have been recorded at any time.
In the UK, the Pearl Bailey show aired on April 9 1978, and K&C aired on December 22 the same year.
Correct; to be precise, the latter show simply reused tape from the former (as opposed to recording a new performance, as happened with 'Bein' Green', for example). This is the only time the show did that, and oddly enough, the same show also contains a repeat of 'An Actor's Life For Me', from...
That's certainly possible, although it would only explain the Vincent Price show, as it's the only one of the five that T-L released themselves.
However, whatever stopped Disney using 'You've Got A Friend' evidently didn't cause problems for Columbia-Tristar, who have released it three...
The most likely explanations are:
- the rights holder declined to license the song to Disney
- the rights were either more expensive when Disney looked into it, or else Disney's budget for the release wouldn't cover them
- the rights were not available (or were unaffordable) for all...
Bear in mind that Wikipedia is by no means authoritative ;-)
There are three video recordings of this song: the TOTP one, shot live in the TOTP studio; the blue/pink-lit version, as seen in the Harvey Korman TMS for at least the last 10-15 years; and the brown/yellow-lit version, as seen in...
They leave themselves open to legal action on the part of the people or companies whose rights they've just infringed upon. This is not something that a responsible company is going to do...
Disney do not need to "own" the rights to the songs. They need to obtain a license from the...
And then there's the poor spelling and grammar - and indeed, grasp of English - not to mention the inability to understand the word "stop". Classic trolling...
I must be getting rusty - I used to be able to spot trolls much faster than this :-)
*sigh*...I give up.
No, nothing's impossible. But it's not particularly likely that this will happen any time soon, and it probably won't happen at all - even in the event that the rights situation changes, the sales of an uncut boxset are going to be limited largely to people who a) know...
For the LAST TIME: IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. If the rights owners do not want to licence the song, there is nothing that you, I, Disney or GOD can do about it.
There's more details elsewhere on this board, but:
Joel Grey - lost both Newsflashes (probably in error) and 'Stormy Weather'
Jim Nabors - lost 'Gone with the Wind' and 'Danceros'
Paul Williams - lost 'All of Me'
Charles Aznavour - lost 'Old Fashioned Way'
Vincent Price - lost 'You've Got...
