You're correct, rights do vary from country to country. It is therefore distinctly possible that Disney simply went for the 'lowest common denominator': they cut out everything that could not be cleared for all territories.

No reason why it should: it's nothing to do with Season One. The theme and opening titles changed for every season. And your point is? The show evolved, as all long-running shows do. Characters were dropped; new characters were introduced. Sketches were dropped, new ones took their place...

Why are you so keen for Disney to make cuts? I can understand if there are some songs or sketches that you don't like, but that's no reason the rest of us shouldn't get to see them.
