I've read part of the Cosmic Trilogy; I read "Perelandra" and "That Hideous Strength" as part of a paper I did on Lewis back in high school.
What have I read lately - well, yesterday on the train I re-read "City of Dreaming Books," and today I went though an anthology of Greek plays.
There...
Yeah, well, let's face it - universities can be pretty snooty when it comes to who gets certain perks. They just want to glad-hand the alumni with the plump purses, and I saw a lot of that back when I was in college - we'd be heading off for dinner in the dining hall, and upstairs in the...
Wow...sounds like you've been having some of those days. And I know just where you're coming from on a lot of that; I've had days where my mood's so blue that it's closer to dark indigo. And I've had guilty feelings too, where I think, "I don't deserve this," or "I'm completely spoiled," or "I...
Yeah, one of Gobo's weaknesses is his pride - and I think most of it stems from his insecurities about being able to live up to Traveling Matt.
Let's see, of the Fraggle Five, I'd say Wembley's my favorite, and I also like Red and Gobo. But it's true - Boober gets some of the best lines...
(Scooter and Beige are reciting lines from Henry V.)
Beige (as Pistol): ...and from heartstring I love the lovely bully. What is thy name?
Scooter (as Henry): Harry le roi.
Beige: Leroy? That is a Cornish name. Art thou of Cornish crew?
Scooter: No, I am a Welshman.
Beige: Know'st thou...
Hey, Sara, how's it going?
A couple of posts back, heralde posted the link to someone's MySpace page - it's got several photos of Richard on it, including close-ups of the program from his memorial service at St. John the Divine - if you haven't already, check it out.
Will do.
The story follows the life of two elderly sisters, daughters of a Lutheran minister, in 19th century Norway. They've become the heads of their father's religious community, whose members have shunned all sensual pleasures, including good-tasting food. Over the years, rifts have sprung...
Yeah, I think the woman writes some kind of online parenting column or something. She described how she had structured routines with her kid, like reading bedtime stories to him in her room as a treat, or forbidding videos on a school night, and things like that.
My parents weren't that...
Yeah, the general intention is to keep us from being distracted. It was the same with me, when I learned that my dog had passed early this year. Mom didn't let me know what had happened until most of my classes were done for the day. (Of course, my cell phone was off for most of that time.) But...
We got a few inches of snow during the night here, and we're getting some more now. The temps were in the low 30s this afternoon, which is practically a heat wave. :)
(gang is trudging back from the park in a snowstorm, all carrying ice skates)
Storyteller (riding on Scooter's shoulders): Beige, I told you that quadruple lutz and backspin was a bad idea.
Beige (being carried by Erin): Uh-huh...and who fancied herself a Fraggle version of Dorothy Hamill...
That's right. Keeping a kid super-sheltered isn't going to help the kid out in the long run - in fact, it'd do more harm than good. Kids are a lot smarter, and a lot more resilient, than many adults give them credit for, and they have every right to know about how life can be weird and complex...
For me, before would be a little iffy, since I tend to get off work around 5 or 5:30 these days.
But, yeah, there should be some time for mingling in the minutes before and after.
I know the feeling - if it's something you've been really looking forward to, it goes by really fast.
And on a slightly different topic, I took in "Gone But Not Forgotten." So sad...and there's Wembley in the cave, reduced to tears at the thought of Mudwell's peach and pepper potage with...
Same here...and I wonder what Frank and the others are going to have to say about Richard at the event?
It's one of those things that you don't think you'll ever get to see or do - and when you do get to see or do it, it's a little unreal, in a good way.
Have you guys heard about this?

It sounds like everyone got out okay, thank goodness...but some of the passengers were in the water for a few minutes. The temps are just above freezing around here.
It's amazing the pilots...
So far, it looks as if there are 21 forum members going to the 40th anniversary event, by my last count. Looks like there's a sprinkling of people in J and K, and a few up in the loge.
Well, Steve said he wanted some of the people who were going to e-mail him, and probably set up a time to meet before the event.
And yes, my brother's coming, so that's four in my group. And like I said, we're in row K.
