I did a performance once where we used one of our regular puppets as a human arm puppet by dressing he (the puppet) and I in white Oxford shirts. I stayed infront of the puppeteer manipulating the puppet and performed all of the hand actions without being attached at all. (Keep in mind we were...
Awsome Pauly! I've tried to figure out a quicker method to building when you told me how long it takes you. It's nice to see your method. It will give me some ideas on streamlining my process. Thanks.
You'll need a scuba mask for it to be Lloyd Bridges.
First the beady-eye would be my first choice (numero siete). I understand completely about the "God" puppet thing. Moses, Abraham...yes, but I would refuse to reduce my Lord to a glorified glove.
Point well made. I've often bemoaned the "dryness" of most skits, but to be honest, mine aren't much better. I recognize this fact and have expressed the desire to change that and have studied not only inspriational text, but comedy and drama writing books. Like any other art form, it takes time...
No idea other than a dragon (I think). I pulled that out of my archives of patterns and junk from the web. I don't even know who's intellectual property it is or I could give due credit.

*Universal Truth Warning: A portion of what I am about to post is true. Yes, it is found in the Bible and whether that is your...
Anyone have a link to the Rufus pattern? If not, I'll make one on puppetminister.com. It's not my design, so I hope I won't be upsetting anyone by posting the pics. Back soon...
Good for you. I can't wait to see the results.
Super Scooter, personally, I don't mind the pilled look (I like the wabi sabi aspect of it all) but in contrast it makes the puppets look "older" than they might really be.
Dying in the washing machine give you even coverage but it causes the fabric to "pill" up. I use to use the machine, but since have started "tub" dying and the results are much better.
I use one of those big plastic tubs with the rope handles ($7-$10) or a Rubbermaid under-bed container...
I've always dyed it as one large sheet or cut into rectangular smaller sheets that provide plenty of room for the pattern to fit (but not pattern shape per se). I've never had a noticable variation in color.
Pre-wet, unfolded, and slight agitation all seem necessary for consistent color. I...
