Thanks Larz! Good luck to you too! Thanks too to Bezalel! I'm so grateful for Project Puppet for all the wonderful tools they provide! I'm also grateful for good old Muppet Central and the Muppet Cast. I don't think I could have learned all that I have anywhere near as fast as I have without all...
I have to agree that puppets still have a lot of excitement and energy around them. Anytime that I tell someone that I build and perform puppets they get really excited. And when I was talking about opening a puppet theater there was a lot of enthusiasm from pretty much anyone I shared that...
Wow! Sounds super exciting! As a former small town business owner I would encourage you to make contact with the other theaters in town. Most small businesses see the upside of working together for their mutual benefit. I'm sure there will be lots of opportunities for you guys to work together...
Hey everyone! Only a few more days to head on over to www.puppetcontest.com and get your vote in if you haven't already. Of course I'd be thrilled if you voted for my puppet (Lightning Rod). A couple of my other favorite entries are from Muppet Central Forum members. Larz has The Wild Banana...
My wife kind of dreads us going to Target I think cause I'm always cruising the $1 isle looking for puppet resources. This last time I picked up a bunch of Halloween hats for $1 each! A witches hat, wizards hat and a cool pirate hat. Sweet! I'll have to go back and look for the eyeballs!
It's coming along beautifully! I'm envious of your progress. I'm still building puppets, haven't gotten to the set building portion. So much to do...so much to LEARN! Keep up the awesome work, can't wait to see the first finished episode!
Thanks everyone for the kind words! I REALLY enjoyed the process of creating this puppet and was really pleased with how closely the final puppet resembled my original design sketch. I'm very happy to be returning to other projects with other fabrics though! Yup that fabric was a true exercise...
I certainly learned a lot in this puppet build! One thing is for sure. If I NEVER work with a satiny material again it will be TOO SOON! That stuff is just waaaaaay too much fun.
Yeah, I have to agree that there are a lot of awesome entries. My hero is Lightning Rod. Larz I LOVED your entry! Very cool. The puppet was very well done and so was your descriptive text.
It's so fun seeing what everyone came up with! Thanks so much to Project Puppet! You guys not only...
Yahoooo! That's awesome dude! I too am SO EXCITED for you! I still remember the thrill of opening the doors on my own business 20 years ago. It's a challenging road, but man what an adventure! Best of luck buddy!
Well, I'm laboring away on my hero to tip the scales back towards justice! Much as I'd like to say otherwise I think I will be among the "flood" coming in Friday. The puppet came together with uncharacteristic ease, but the costume has given me a bit more of a challenge.
My puppet is done, just have to finish his costume, snap some photos and send it your way. Well, better get back to that sewing machine...I can hear that clock ticking!
Yeah, I haven't tried the RC thing yet myself but I have a friend who is quite handy with it and just itching to try it out on some puppets. Just haven't had the time to focus on that particular aspect yet.
You may want to check with Gordon (spcglider) for ideas. I believe he has some professional expertise in the whole prop building arena. My only idea would be to consider using concrete forms as your base. They sell hard cardboard concrete forms in a variety of sizes. You can get one that is 12"...
Hey Chris sounds very exciting! My wife and I have a dream of opening a puppet theater here in Wisconsin. I have quite a bit of experience as an independent businessman. I owned and operated my own small town video store for 13 years. I sold it but it is still running and will celebrate it's...
