Yes, but consumerism is all about more and more and more and more, hence Black Friday and such.

Here's a great interview with Joe Murray about the early days of Nick: https://www.polygon.com/interviews/2018/11/21/18104961/rockos-modern-life-creator-joe-murray-interview Interesting to read he's apparently got a PBS show coming out soon.

    The Oh-So-Permanent Thanksgiving Thread

No, just Thanksgiving depicted in fiction in general, like when shows do Thanksgiving episodes, or what few and far between Thanksgiving TV specials there are. Thanksgiving isn't a secular holiday they can profit off of.

The Worst CGI Kid Films In Recent Memory

I would also argue that the Jim Carrey version of the Grinch brought some emotional complexity to the character: the movie gives us a backstory, detailing how he was adopted by a pair of little old Who ladies who found his baby basket in a tree, but as a kid growing up, he was tormented by his...

    The Oh-So-Permanent Thanksgiving Thread

Why have we not been posting in this thread at all this month? It's already been bumped down two pages. Not right. Anyway, I'm just gonna say it: I find it really, really weird when I see Thanksgiving depicted in fiction, and everybody is shown all bundled up in jackets, coats, scarves...

    The Old Cartoon Network Thread

Since cable cartoons are able to get away with more and more these days that they couldn't back during the time of our childhoods (to wit, THE LOUD HOUSE having a gay couple), it makes me wonder if some of the episodes that were banned back in the day would actually be okay today? Like the DIAL...

Arthur - Where is the Show Going?

PBS has been gradually doing away with ARTHUR over the past couple of years. My PBS doesn't even air it at all anymore. And at least three different voice actors, including the original Arthur himself (who now voices Slink) have tweet-hinted that the show is finally coming to an end.

The New What Made You Frown Today Thread

Skype came installed on my current computer when I got it, but honestly, I never even used it anyway. I still don't even use it. I can't remember it being there ever affecting my computer in anyway though - I mean, whenever I open my task manager, I never see any processes for it - unless my...

True, I only picked up on it after repeat viewings. Meanwhile, you can't even hear a word of what Frank says during that bit.

Yeah, Jim's AM does say those things, but listen carefully, you can hear Oscar's voice saying, "Heeey! Watch that stuff! What's wrong with you?!"

    What made you think today?

I'm not saying that I agree with him, but at the same time, I will say that, from my own observation growing up, it does seem like people who dye their hair in strange and bizarre colors like that tend to be . . . "bad seeds." Not saying that all of them are, obviously, but like, when I was a...

    What made you think today?

Some nut out there is coming under fire for something he posted online about how women who dye their hair crazy colors like red, blue, purple, green, etc. should be avoided at all costs, comparing them to brightly colored animals in nature that use their bright colors as a single to predators...

    Little things we've noticed

Am I imagining things, or did it sound like during the last few years that the classic closing theme was used for the Friday credits sequence that somebody's whistling was dubbed in with the "Magic carpet ride" bridge? I mean, listen for yourself:

Christmas: Are they shoving it down our throats too early?

Key word: Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving comes after Halloween. Thanksgiving comes before Christmas. October month is the month of Halloween. December is the month of Christmas. November is the month of Thanksgiving.

    The Muppet Central Mysteries

I could, because I happen to know the parties in question haven't completely disappeared from the face of the earth, and reopening that can of worms could trigger something messy all over again.
