All the while bemoaning about how poor they were, how Pa had nothing to leave them because the snake oil business was a bust, how they've had to hawk almost everything they had, how their Christmases can't be merrier, on and on and on and on and on for the first several minutes of the special...
Yesterday was the first time I saw Emmet Otter in its entirety since I was a kid.
When I saw it as a kid, I hated it . . . I thought it was very depressing, and not at all Muppety (as in zany, wacky, and off-beat with underlying melancholy).
Seeing it again as an adult . . . well, I don't hate...
Chromakey's not as easy as it seems - especially if you don't have even/adequate lighting.
It's also hard when you have different characters that are blue or green, or have both colors in their palette, and you have to keep switching between a green screen, a blue screen, or some other color.
"FAMILY GUY BROUGHT ME HERE!"
"THUMBS UP IF YOUR HEAR CUZA FAST AND FURIOUS!"
"I'M HEER BECAUSE BIG BANG THEORY!"
"WHO ELSE IS HERE BECAUSE OF JUSTIN BIEBER?"
"HEY, I HEARD THIS IN THAT MOVIE THAT JUST CAME OUT THIS SUMMER! SO MUCH NOSTALGIA!!!"
I'm just glad they didn't crop either of the specials into widescreen like they would on cable TV now.
And interestingly, even though Kermit's book-end appearances were included in Emmet Otter, the rest of his off-screen narration was omitted.
I both saw and heard something really weird today:
I saw an anti-Trump 2019 calendar at BAM . . . and yes, I got it! It even comes with all kinds of crazy stickers you can plaster over his face for each month! :P
I heard Dean Martin's version of "Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!" but...
This entire episode felt a little reminiscent of older seasons. The street story had quite an ensemble of different Muppets - seeing how Herry is back in action keeps reminding me I need to find a Herry figure for my SS diorama (how come he and Rosita are so rare from that 90s Tyco figurine...
Just to avoid aggrivating @ConsummateVs, I'll only say the fact that evidently a certain vapid pop starlet is getting a movie.
But, at least it's apparently only going to be a straight-to-Netflix movie, so it's not like it'll be some kind of mainstream, theatrical movie anyway.
I would also point out that my taste in music continued to broaden and develop beyond my teen years. Or, at the very least, I listened to certain genres more and more as I got older than I did when I was younger.
Stephanie explained on Twitter this evening that because of all that had been going on with Season 50 taking up so much of Matt's time that they couldn't do any more BTF this year. :(
So YouTube just introduced probably one of the most useless new features they've ever made: the "Library" tab.
Basically, it's nothing more than a brief summary of your playlists such as History, Watch Later, Favorites, Created Playlists, and such. That's all. It's almost like a copy of your...
ALVIN: Aw, you're in a bad mood anyway, so why don't we just--
DAVE: I am not in a bad mood, Alvin!
THEODORE: Dave, you always said we should be honest with our feelings.
DAVE: So?
SIMON: Just admit that you're . . . stressed.
DAVE: I AM NOT STRESSED!!!
